supposed to hit 99° today

I need to get the back yard mowed...kind of want to knock it out early this morning before it gets too ridiculous out there.

Connecticut was a good visit with the inlaws. Looking forward to part of a weekend at home this coming weekend. It's been too long since I was able to just chill at home.

I did that other day. Mowed pretty early before got hot. Last 3 days were 100+ but today only in 70’s
 
I have a sense that this Summer is just beginning.
 
Worst kid on the football team invited the whole team to his bday party and my kid was the only one to show up.

There is a very ugly lesson in there I’m afraid.

Morning. Almost saw a no-hitter yesterday. Local minor league team took a combined no-no into the 9th, lost it on a clean double down the left field line. Still wound up winning. Kids had a lot of fun. We were there with some other families from the little league, and the kids got to do some stuff between innings and go out on the field with the players for the National Anthem.
 
Also, Ham's dance class tomorrow, which is indoors in an air conditioned building, has been cancelled because of the heat advisory.

Yeah the kids that were there had a blast. Was at Zap Zone.

It’s possible the other kids already had plans since it’s the middle of summer but I still felt horrible for the kid.
 
Currently 90F up here in downtown Canuckistan. We're supposed to top out at 95F which is rare up here. Oh well, only two days of it, and there's cold beer in the fridge.
 
On our "vacation" currently. Im working until noon today & tomorrow on it. We got the wife's new to us van. Yesterday was our 7th anniversary. The kids were testing my patience yesterday as younger 2 were excited and older all 3 sunburnt tired grumps coming back from their sperm donors lake trip.
 
took a half hour off to mow the backyard. No baby bunny nests in the tall grass, which was my biggest concern. Did find a baby turtle though. He's fine.

That's sad to hear. So he's not a good player? So what? Is he a nice kid? Kudos for your kid going

Having a son who is on the spectrum that was always a tough experience as a parent. On one hand you want your kid to have a birthday party, but on the other you worry about who will show up and if they are going to be disappointed

My kids have been in those situations where they're one of very few that showed up to other kids' parties. I always feel really badly for the kids. As a parent, the social stuff can really be difficult. Fortunately Slink Jr hasn't had any issues, but Slinkette 1 had some shitty stuff happen during junior high and it's really hard to see them go through that.

Slinkette 1 had a rough birthday last year and it's pretty heartbreaking. She was wailing the night before her birthday and it absolutely tore me up to hear it.

I'm happy to report that she's a much happier kid this year. Thank God.

The Jr High years are the roughest IMO and girls...man they can be absolutely vicious
