Holy Crap Bobby Petrino Just Became The aTm Offensive Coordinator

It’ll be like having two head coaches!!!!! Am I right @OregonDucks

Bobby Petrino strikes me as somehow who has always been desperate to get into the SEC. He left the Atlanta Falcons to go to the Arkansas Razorbacks for goodness sakes.

That is why this doesn't surprise me.

He could pull better younger trim in college than he could in the NFL.

Plus Atlanta was probably going to fire him after one season becauae he was a train wreck

The players all hated his guts. I mean, he did walk into a shitty situation since the whole Vick dogfighting deal happened after he was already announced as HC IIRC and he was hired to try to elevate Vick to the next level, but even with a bunch of backup level QBs, he still vastly underperformed with the other talent on that team. He would have been a one and done since the players hated him and Arthur Blank did too, but to leave the way he did was straight up cowardly.

Hell, the way he accepted the job to begin with after signing a big extension with Louisville was cowardly too.

A new HC and a rookie Matt Ryan made the playoffs the very next season

Didn't remember all the details but I did remember there was a lot of locker room drama

I like the move TBH, A&M needed a bold move on offense and this does it. As long as BP can still relate to the players (he’s not ancient but gettin older) then this imo is a good move.

Now, what happens if/when the offense looks better and A&M starts winning( or losing I guess too) games?
Does Jimbo get the credit or does Bobby? And is Jimbo gonna be able to handle it if it’s Bobby?

Ended up being a motorcycle wreck

While Petrino offense is better than Jimbo's.. it's not by much imo. He did score more than aggy did vs Arkansas last year, but everyone who points to his track record goes more than a decade ago.

I can't wait to see how this plays out.. you know Jimbo is just ready to cut Petrino at the knees as soon as he goes 3 and out. These two guys have such massive egos.. it's gonna be a fun watch..

EDIT:

I'm gonna miss seeing Jimbo with a stack of play calling sheets in this hands on the sidelines :(
Did Petrino ever have the talent A&M has right now? Jimbo's play calling for non-top 10 games is atrocious and cookie cutter. Having an OC that can plan and call plays should at least mean we aren't so conservative.

I think this is nothing but good news for you guys.

I mean he did have a Heisman winning QB at Louisville.. which team had multiple losses. We'll see, this isn't 10 years ago when he was on his game before his x games stunt. He didn't light it up last season at Missouri either..

Hopefully he can convince Evan Stewart that he's gonna make him the focal point, because it seems he wasn't happy about the "splash hire" Jimbo sold him on a month ago.

Petrino had several QBs that were better than anything currently at ATM
