HooplaNation's Preseason Rankings - Discussion Thread

I don't see why people are ranking Texas A&M so high. They went 8-4 (4-4) last season, Okay, they upset Bama but also lost to a weak LSU team. 2020 they we're great, but it was COVID season. Indiana and Iowa State were great too. In 2019, they went 8-4 (4-4). 2018, they went 9-4 (5-3) finishing #15.

Where does it scream Top 10?

They should have a much better QB this year and those top 10 recruiting classes have to pay off sometime. Pretty much if A&M isn’t a top 10 team this year, they need to get rid of Jimbo. Talented roster, it’s make or break time

They had those recruiting classes for past 4 seasons too.

I think Red Alert beat me to it but Recruiting Classes. Honestly, Texas A&M is probably a good QB away from being a playoff contender.

Lost our starting QB very early in the season.

I am not going to waste time deciding if a poll is a troll one or the person really meant it - even if it is really obvious. If it has 25 different FBS teams, I am going to count it as official. If you do post a troll thread (1) make a list < 25 teams, (2) include FCS teams, (3) put team(s) on more than once.

So, @NU_FTW's poll will be included.
lel at someone who puts Coastal Carolina and App St in the top 25 but refuses to consider A&M in that list then turning around and crying about "troll" polls. :pound:

Doesn't Texas A&M play App State?

Hmmm, so far only Chewy has Georgia at #1. Maybe the Coaches poll isn't that bad.

Yep. They warm up with a fcs team 1st week then App St.
If the powderpuff we play to start the season catches your eye just wait for the pushovers we play to end the schedule.

No shit. S.Car., ole Miss, Fla. Auburn, UMass, LSU. What a powderpuff line up. North Dakota St. has a tougher schedule than that. No wonder the polls have A&M so high. A&M can't finish 11-1 with that schedule, they need to find another coach. The only team they play is Alabama.

Georgia should be #1 until they get beat even though they aren't the best team on paper.

This should just about take Wake Forest off of everyone's top 25 list

Meh. Pretty well every QB Wake has plugged in has been good. But I do hope it’s nothing serious for Hartman.
They're losing a 5th year guy who has gotten better each season. Its true they've had some good qbs over the years (Skinner, Wolford, Newman). But its pretty optimistic to think a guy with little to no experience is going to step in and put up the season Hartman had last year. Their defense was up and down last year and was abysmal is some games. They need pretty similar production from the qb spot to stay in the top 25
