How do you feel about self checkouts

Found the fag that backs into parking spots^^^^
Biden bad! Robots taking our jobs!

You expect me to push my cart around the store AND bag my own groceries?

Milkshake the kind of guy to drive to the grocery store and then use Instacart in the parking lot.

The problem at the stores around me is they’ve taken these machines as an opportunity to dramatically cut staffing at the regular registers and forcing people with way too much stuff to the self-check. There is often a line of people six deep just to get to the self-check even if you do only have a few things.
Exactly. If there are lines, and there are excess employees just standing around, why not open some of the regular check outs? It sounds crazy, I know!

Hell, there are smaller Walmart grocery stores down here where I live that ONLY have self check outs. There are NO regular checkouts at all.

Your stores have excess employees standing around? What sort of wonderland is this?

Lol wut

Who the fuck goes to the grocery store for one or two items, unless they had just been to that store buying a bunch of shit, and forgot something and had to double back?

Mrs Redfoot does most of the grocery shopping, but I'll often pop in to grab a handful of things.

I dislike self checkout lines and will wait for a lane with a clerk as opposed to an open self-check unless I'm in a real fucking hurry.

I like to look people in the eye and talk to them. As a society, we spend entirely too much time staring at screens and it just seems to be getting worse.

The local Lowe's has regular checkouts, but I never see them open anymore. However, the Pro side always has a checkout clerk, so I'll walk to the other side of the building just to avoid the self checkouts.

It was inevitable that when I had just a basket of items and I'd be in a regular check-out line of people with full carts, the cashier would have to do a price-check on some item. It would take at least 10 minutes for some employee to come get the item, go to the aisle and check the price, and return to the cashier.
My choice was to either stand and wait or go to another line and hope it doesn't happen there too.

Fuck that. Give me the self check-out where at worst you wait for one of the 8 kiosks to open.
People with full carts rarely use them and if someone needs a price-check I'm already in a single line for the next kiosk to open up. I don't have to go wait in another line.

I agree on Sam's Club. They've got it right. Lets you scan as you put the items in your cart. Then you hit the checkout button on the way out to get your Q code to get out the door. No lines, no waiting. That's the only way to go. Since Sam's and Walmart are owned by the same people, I'm surprised Walmart hasn't gone to a similar system.

Kroger used to have scanners by the door that would serve the same function, so you'd scan as you shop. But that went away around the time of covid, but I'm not sure if it was related or just issues with the system.

Sam's can get away with it because they have WAY fewer items than a typical grocery store. And it'd never work for any produce that needed to be weighed, though I'm sure they could figure out some weighing/pricing mechanism in that department to help with self scanning.

The things she forgot? I covered that.

My wife likes to talk to everyone, so standing in a checkout line is her dream situation.

People back into spots think they're better than everyone else.

Like fags. lulz

Backing into parking spots is NOT gay, and I will fuck any dude who says otherwise!
Don't mind him.

The last time he used a self-checkout, he tipped 25% because of the awesome job he did bagging his groceries.

Just look confused and someone in blue will come do it for you.
