You won way too many participation trophies as a kid.
A. Apparently you believe the first time you lose or encounter a bump in the road you give up. High level athletes do not do this. Hell, I coached a fifth grade girls basketball team that didn't do this.
B. You are happy about your team scheduling nothing but inferior opponents that have no chance for ALL of their OOC games.
Says a lot
I grew up when you only got trophies if you won.
I also have hung out with a ton of D1 football players from multiple schools around Michigan and I was a scholarship athlete in college too.
From my experience, almost every one of these athletes are 110% thru summer work out programs, strength and conditioning, camp, etc. When the season starts -- they are all in, skipping parties, not drinking, etc. Once they lose or they aren't playing for anything -- the drinking picks up, they start going to parties, they start going to bars (all things i've done with players at Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan State)
It isn't that they "give up" -- It is just that they aren't all in anymore. Hell -- the Eastern Michigan guys, many of their starters were more worried about planning the after party than they were about the games.
As far as the OOC -- I couldn't care less who schedules who in OOC. The B1G SOS being in the East division -- they will have a top 25 schedule regardless.
The schedule this year and next are anomalies for UM. We have Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Washington as OOC opponents in the upcoming years.
