How long do the Eagles stay with Hurts...

No. Even with getting rid of Jeffrey and Jackson finally we are in a bit of cap hell. And so much other upgrading, if possible, needs to happen elsewhere.

I honestly hope we have Howie taken out of player personnel decisions and someone brought in with a plan that includes making some tough calls to both get younger and shed cap. That will supersede upgrading any positions without ultimate “now” need.

Carson cant be part of that shedding....at least not in 2021. And no one is going to take on his contract. He’s going to get another chance after regrouping. That extension he signed guarantees him that.
yea...we are certainly going to be fucked for a couple years...that sucks

stick with him the rest of the year.
thehe get an idea of what you have.
Try to make Wentz hungry to play again for next year.
It's not going to matter who plays QB for the Eagles as long as Pederson is the HC. The brains behind the SB win against NE was the OC and he's gone which has exposed Pederson as the clown that he is.

They tried to keep a window open once Carson showed up and showed promise. They just tried to keep a window open in very stupid ways.

Howie has been able to kick the can down the road well enough on the cap without shedding important pieces so far. But, there is no easy way to do that anymore....and a lot of guys he was using to kick cap down the road are aging out now anyway.

There is no easy way to shed those guys and clear their cap as soon as possible AND keep upgrading to stay competitive. It’s going to suck for a while.

Like the Phillies about 5-6 years ago they tried to keep a window open longer than it made sense to....and now a price will have to be paid to get out from under it.

so get another decent OC to go with Pederson.

I would rather hold on to Doug and get him the right people around him.

I agree, it is very similar to how the Phillies did their thing following the WS in 2008.

It sucks not to be loyal to players, but at some point you do have to see it as a business and move on from players who are no longer producing or on the downslope of their career. I feel like Andy was a little better at that than we are right now.

Lightning isn't likely to strike twice in the same location. If the HC is the problem (he is), get rid of him and get someone that can run a professional organization.

That’s a fair point. They could try to duplicate things like they did when they hired Doug (welcome aboard, here’s the staff you work with) but it’s no guarantee it works again.

We clearly benefited most from coaches that were here in 2017 (like Reich) and absolutely saw the drop off when they left.

so it begs the question as to what is the problem? Is the new OC not as good? Is it Doug?

I think it is the former. If they change that and get someone good and we still fail, then it is Doug.

It's becoming more evident each game that Frank Reich was the reason they went 13-3 and won the SB. Once he left it was 9-7 two years in a row and now 3-8? That's some serious regression.

There is no OC technically. They went with this weird ass collaborative thing. It’s horrible. It’s a huge reason why the offense dropped so far over the last two years, along with massive injuries and bad player picks.

And....it was part of Doug’s plan. So the question of “OC or Doug” is not so simple. It’s both, and that includes Doug.

He had his best success with a coaching staff given to him. Since he’s been able to pick his own the staffs on offense have been HORRID.

So, if they don’t fire him (I think there are others that need to be fired first, but won’t cry much at this point if he’s part of it) they need to take away his ability to pick much of his staff. Go get some good minds and make his staff for him.

If lightning doesn’t strike twice (and I mean that as in solid offensive improvement....this team isn’t winning a SB soon) he needs to be gone.

TL;DR.....there are a LOT of reasons this offense is so bad. Doug could either get swept out with those reasons....or be saved that there is no singular reason for this shit storm that is fully on him.

the issue is much more involved than just 2 guys.

the team got older and less experienced at the same time

I hope they keep him on board for 20 more years

Where did I say I care?
you are posting in this thread like you care and you seem pretty opinionated on how the Eagles should operate going forward...

are you still a little bitter about losing to them in 2018?

Rest assured, 6 SB wins is enough to keep the bitterness away.

If you waant to talk about the Eagles in a safe space run along to the Eagles' board and chat there. Otherwise deal with the opinions of NFL fans from around the league. Savvy?

I don't want a safe space...just curious as to why you (and apparently others) care so much about what the Eagles do
