Hump Day

No point to delicious beer? I don't even know you

There are many delicious things that I can't indulge in as often as I'd like. Though are are drinks that are inextricably linked to certain activities. A long smoke, like a pork shoulder or brisket will usually be linked to beer consumption while I monitor, but that hasn't happened for a few months. Pizza on the other hand is linked to Coke. Probably from the whole "by the pitcher" cost at Pizza Hut as a kid and being told to not drink the whole pitcher before the pizza even came to the table so we didn't have to order and pay for a 2nd pitcher. Today's kids don't understand that pain.

Morning, folks

I think I'm going to do a Moist January. Not completely stop drinking, but keep it pretty moderate.

That's half-assed.

I know someone that does the Januwagon every year. I like the idea of it, but with college & NFL playoffs and skiing, January would be a horrible month for me to hop on the wagon. I'm thinking it would be best for me to do April or September.

my last beer was Christmas eve and I poured most of it out. Before that it was probably sometime in the summer when I was smoking a brisket that I had my last beer.

Are you talking specifically beer, or alcoholic beverages in general?

BTW, I was part of a LEGO build of the Porsche 911 Targa over the holiday. Cool looking, and nostalgic as my Grandpa had one, but it's easily the most fragile completed LEGO set I've ever seen. You can't hardly touch it without parts falling off. Pick it up with anything but the most gentle grasp and you're fucked.

Plot twist: he's switched to white zinfandel and appletinis.

White Zin, as horrible as it is, saved the zinfandel grape. Without white zin sales, the grape would have been abandoned/ignored and we'd never have the reds we have today.

And that's one to grow on.

yeah, unless the car build is one of the technic sets, it's a display set, not a play set. I have one of the technic audi race cars that you could pickup from almost any piece and it'd hold together. Still need to put the remote control parts in it to drive it around.

Beer is essentially all I drink. I have other alcohol (wine and liquor) in the house, but those are used for cooking way more than for drinking.

Now you tell me!

For real though, I didn't expect to be able to play with it, but I didn't expect it to break if I give it a mean look.

I'd like to make fun of you for that healthy choice, but I realize I just got out my daily afternoon snack of 20 lightly salted almonds. . .

Lunch was leftovers from last night for me.

Pork loin and latkes, just like my Bubbe used to make.

Salad with rotisserie chicken will be a staple for my lunches this year. Need something to replace sandwiches.

Welcome to my world, although I typically do grilled chicken breast or whatever protein we have leftover from dinners. That's been my lunch probably 60-70% of my lunches over the last five years.

Although I have don't eat with my health in mind, I have developed a taste for chef salad or shrimp Louie for dinner.

I'm not trying to live forever or anything, I just choose to eat clean because I value the way it makes me feel as opposed to how the other stuff makes me feel. I'm doing physical things in my 40s that I never could have done in my 30s.

To each his own.

At my age, instant gratification is the goal. Old men really are like little kids.

February cause it has the least number of days, silly.

And this year sucks cause it has one more day than usual.

plus the salad for lunch means I don't need to feel guilty about the ribs I'm smoking for dinner.
