Oh... I'm sure some heads would explode. But, Bama does not belong in these playoffs. I want to earn it, not back door my way in there. I'm still scratching my head about losing to Vandy & Oklahoma.

Yeah but ....

There aren't really 12 teams that do deserve to be in it.

This is the year that the two team BCS would have been sufficient.

With NIL, transfer portal and 12 playoff spots, each for its own reason, I think this may well be the norm.
NIL and the transfer portal can “fix” talent deficiencies faster and creates a little more parity among the levels. Schools that perpetually recruit lower aren’t “stuck” there as long as NIL and the TP are used correctly.

And the 12 team provides “still having a chance” much later in the season. More games later in the season can now impact a larger number of other teams while still giving rewards or punishment for early season performance.

Well, that’s great but it’s a 12 team playoff and I’m happy that it worked out that way because I love college football and having a larger bracket in playoff just means more football that really means something

If Alabama had beaten Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, then yeah man, we should be there

The point I am making here is that in a 12-team playoff, who should be there instead?

Even with three losses, Alabama has as much of an argument as being one of the 12 as anyone else.

Well, I’ve been an Alabama fan all my life and all I’m saying is is we’re not a playoff team. Again losses to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma should keep us out of the playoffs. I don’t really wanna go in there and get embarrassed by Penn State.

The Vandy loss is whatever. With the 12 team format, every team basically gets a mulligan against a lesser team.

But Bama lost to Vandy AND Oklahoma. You shouldn’t get two mulligans. And Bama didn’t just lose to OU, it was an uncompetitive game against a 6-6 team. Scored 3 fuckin points…

Not ripping on you or the Bama fans.. just crazy that you should be dead yet there’s a chance you back door in. 12 team playoff is going to be awesome imo. Lots of chaos!

You’re not ripping me, brother, I agree. Even a two loss Alabama team would have a good shot but three losses. That’s just stupid.

I am not sure Bama would get the nod over South Carolina. I know Bama best SoCar early in the year, but they have ripped off 6 straight. They are probably the team in the SEC nobody wants to play right now

I’m fine with either a 10-3 Clem or 12-1 SMU having a seat at the table.

They will have earned it. Simply put, a non-conf champ, 9-3 Bammy didn’t earn shit.
 
I'm sick of this crap about how a 3 loss team shouldn't be in the playoffs. It's as stupid as saying a team with a perfect season MUST be in the playoffs. The idea was to select the best 12 teams, right? Alabama had damn well better be in the Playoff if things keep going the way they have been. I want to see Bama play one of those teams with "only" 1-2 losses and see what happens. This F'in 12-team format is turning into a farce when a team isn't given credit for playing a hard schedule while someone else is rewarded for beating weak opponents. No one in their right mind thinks playing this Alabama team would be a cakewalk in the CFP.

It was week 7 and it was at home. They are a pick 'em as far as I am concerned. Neither deserves to be in, but then there are a lot of teams that are in that don't deserve it now.

Just a lot of imperfect teams this year. Hard to trust any of them in the playoffs. The volatility of performance is just insane this year. Just look at the SEC. 1 week it’s Bama, then Georgia, then Texas, it’s Georgia, no it’s Ole Miss, etc
