I've been living in my house for about 17 year and there's a storage closet in a room we almost never use. I was going through it and found my old baseball cards ('85-'89 or so) and I was like, "hey, I wonder if these are worth anything..."

Nope. Even the "good" cards aren't worth shit unless graded 10.

Still fun to look through them, though.

I collected cards about that time also. I had a lot of Topps, Donruss, etc. Mark McGwire rookie cards and tons of others. Collecting cards then was like religion to me. I know now that cards from that era were so mass produced. Some folks have storage units full of wax boxes totally unopened. I sold every card I had at a flea market many, many years ago.

Yeah, man. The wax packs were like an investment idea in my youth.

I just bought some unopened packs from the '80s just to keep unopened for nostalgia. Thinking I'll go '80-'91 and keep them under the glass counter in my basement bar for talking points.

Man, you might have some bangers. Dig out those '70s cards. Lot's of huge rookies in there.

I think my best card is a '83 Elway.

Have you sent any in to be graded? You have some great shit.

60 Mantle, 68 yaz, 73 reggie, and of course a lot of Griffey rookies. Someday I might actually get a few cards graded.

I was a major MLB fan in the 80's and part of the early 90's. The thing about cards now is they have to be graded to have any worth. I bet I can't name 20-30 players in MLB now. I am more of a college football guy now. I have looked into college football cards on eBay and found some of my favorite players' cards for cheap. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

Yes.....alot,but too many to list.....
Ive got pics of me shaking Walter Paytons hand and a pic with Barry Sanders after they signed my SLU Classic Doubles of those two.

I can post some pics later.....if anyone is interested.

The Mantle for sure, and thats even if the condition is poor.....
Mantles are expensive in any condition.....
I sold both my Griffey rookies.....
UD and the Donruss......

You have more of those older cards......??

The thing about cards from the 80s to now,is they are over produce, theres too many tiers for each card and alot of different manufacterers that make cards......not too mention the steroid users that hurt card values for Bonds,Clemens,McGwire and so on.

Its not like back pre 80s cards when there was mainly just one company that produced cards making rookie cards to just one, insted of all the chase cards in a set......

My father swears he has a million bucks in baseball cards. Sure thing, pops.

Yours too? You should see the list of things that my father made me "promise" not to sell after he died
I've told my pops I'll put him in assisted living if he doesn't give me his record collection.

All of my cards and my dad’s cards are at my folks house. In a room I’m not sure if anyone has been in for twenty years.

Door blocked off with a couch. Other side of the door blocked off with a piano and a bunch of my hoarder moms treasures.

Gonna take me years to sift through that museum of a house someday.
