If judges are involved, is it really a sport?

So, does that mean baseball isn’t a sport if you’re playing against the Texas Rangers?
Definitely not a sport when someone has the game by the balls deciding if something is a over the line.

Just seems like a lot of bias and subjectivity. I’m not saying the participants aren’t athletes, but I have a hard time calling them sports. To me a sport needs a sure fire way to determine a winner. Score more points than your opponent, get across the line first, etc

Even boxing and MMA should go until knockout or tap out
This is what I've been telling my wife for years. If judgement is involved, it is flawed. Need a visual scoreboard & the ability to watch the points accumulate before it is a legitimate sport.

Not a sport if there are judges?

Don Denkinger 1985
Dez Bryant catch 2014
Laettner basket good at 0.00 1992

I see a whole lot of judging going on in these instances and all of them wrong.

1 and 3 are legit :dhd:

Doesn't golf have opponents directly involved from stopping you from achieving your goal? In this case, winning the tournament. :beer2:
No. People can't even talk when your swinging. Stawp it, we have covered this extensively in the past.

That would be indirectly. They can't do anything to inhibit you from winning (shooting balls at your head, blocking your path, taking out your knee, etc.), but they can attempt to get a higher score.

He knows what he's doing.

Those arguing against auto racing are showing they don’t know what they are talking about. Auto racing is MUCH more than driving around a track and endurance. There’s deciding the “set up” of the car. (Btw if you don’t know what that means you have business even talking about auto racing). There’s adjustments to the car made mid-race. There’s how to use your the tires that are allotted to you (you don’t get an unlimited supply ya know). There’s when to pit, how to pit (2 of 4 tire change), there’s fuel consumption, there’s the abilities of the pit crews to do their jobs quickly, I could go on but there’s a lot more that goes into a race other than “who has the fastest car”. There’s real strategy and team work that is required to win a an auto race.

Thats just talking about stock car racing. You have other races like the 24 hours of lemans that require automobile design as well as all the other stuff I mentioned.

Those TEAMS (not just drivers) are in direct competition with one another.
