No disrespect to Iowa, but they rose that high based on preseason rankings on teams they played who are nowhere near as good as people thought they'd be. Indiana is terrible. Iowa State isn't remotely close to being as good as they thought they'd be. PSU isn't that good.

The gameday crew couldn't even keep a straight face when asked if Iowa was the 2nd best team in the country. They started laughing.

Iowa is what they will pretty much always be -- a hard nosed team who won't ever compete for a national title again, but will be competitive in the B1G West, as they lack teams who bring in elite recruiting classes.

It is the CFB we are in today. Recruiting rules and the elite talent go to a select few schools and those select few schools will be the teams competing for titles.
