If you aren't a fan of Georgia or Alabama then college football is not that big a deal.

I'm probably out of touch since I'm old and live in remote West Texas. Does college football not "matter everywhere" anymore? Or not "matter everywhere" as much as it did in the past. Is it dying on the vine everywhere except the SEC?

SEC makes contract with ESPN. ESPN dominates cfb and sports in general. ESPN makes sure SEC is highlighted, given rankings, etc.
so SEC is always highly ranked, shown more on tv, promoted… that means better recruits go there, etc.
it’s less of a “caring” thing than it is a “greedy self-serving thing even a Fucking moron should see it” thing.
the SEC has always been the leading edge of cheating and fuckery in an already cheating-fuckery bent sport like cfb.

The ACC is the only conference that ESPN is the exclusive carrier for...why doesn't the ACC dominate the rankings?

CBS currently has first-tier rights on the SEC, is ESPN pimping them out so CBS gets the best game every week...seems pretty dumb.

Speaking of fuckery, perhaps the ESPN-Texas, LHN is the reason Texas is always in the pre-season poll, and always back....until about week 5 or 6, by which time even ESPN can't pimp them out enough to overcome the shit on-field product.

Some really are NFL ready out of high school, but those are pretty rare. Brock Bowers would be a first round pick in this year’s draft, but he has to stay in college 2 more years

But nationally, I understand why a lot of people decided to not watch the NCG. They just saw those two teams play each other a month prior, and neither were met with any kind of resistance in the semis, and people outside of SEC land are tired of the SEC, and there's Bama fatigue as well.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was the highest viewed sporting event in Georgia ever, but Georgia doesn't really have a national brand.

I guess it's really more of a south thing than just the SEC, Ohio State is the only team not in the south to win a natty since 2005, and it was just one, so in 16 years, 15 of them have been won by a team from the south. To get more national interest back, teams from other regions need to start winning, and it's easier said than done. USC keeping Cali kids in Cali would help. I mean, Bryce Young won the Heisman for Bama and he's from Cali and Brock Bowers was the best TE in the country as a true freshman and he's from Cali.

This is why recruiting needs to be addressed and violations should not impact removal of wins or nonsense such as that, but reductions of scholarships or other limitations in recruiting. Like I said in another thread, there also should be penalties for over signing. You can sign your allotment and that's it, everyone else you would have offered has to move on unless they are willing to walk-on. Partial qualifiers should be allowed again, it's rather absurd that there was ever an issue. Allow them to commit and come to school under the agreement that they must get their grades up by a certain time in order to play or they will be dismissed from the team, they would be allowed to practice and attend team meetings in that time though. Changes in this way are important because of that inherent advantage in recruiting. I kinda wish the conferences would just collapse already and form a new governing body with the top 64 or so teams divided into pods. Oh and get rid of bowl tie-ins, fucking dumb.

As much parity as possible. CFB is great when there are 10-15 teams that have a legit shot every year, not 5.

what made that so special was how close those coaches were.. and still had the hatred within each other to try and one up the others.. then would go get shitfaced post game win or lose at each other's houses.

A 16 team playoff would likely split up the SEC by 'region' so that gives you the possibility of four SEC teams meeting in the semis. :dhd:
