Intuitive Machines' Odysseus To Land on Moon at 6:24 PM

Intuitive Machines-1, Odysseus, lunar landing is scheduled for 6:24 PM EST today. It was launched Feb. 15 by the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The Houston-based company, Intuitive Machines, is one of several commercial companies vying to support NASA's new moon landing program. It will be the first US-made spacecraft to touch down on the moon in five decades (1972).

The US lunar landing mission last month by Pittsburgh-based Astrobotic ended with the Peregrine lander burning up in the atmosphere as it careened back toward Earth10 days later.

In January, Japan's lander, SLIM, successfully landed on the lunar surface, but upside down.
