I’m just telling you, either ND or OSU was getting screwed that year.

OSU hadn’t shaken the can’t beat an SEC team reputation that had built in the Tressel era, and the SEC had won 6 straight. Strings would have been pulled to include Bama.

It probably would have been ND getting the shaft since in this scenario OSU plays in and likely wins a CCG
OSU shook the "can't beat an SEC team" reputation in Tressel's last game against the SEC when he beat a top 5 Arkansas team.

OSU vs. ND would've been the game, if nothing more than for the fact that it would've had unbeaten first year Urban Meyer vs. the resurgent blue blood ND.

I think we woulda beat ND. Bama not so much though lol. That 2012 was not the best, even though they went undefeated, we coulda easily lost a couple of games that year. We woulda been a lot more competitive with Bama than ND was though.

That was back when people took stripped past wins seriously.

There’s no way of proving it, but you can’t convince me they wouldn’t have put Bama in regardless

Bama was beatable that year. Johnny Football did beat em and UGA should have in the SECCG but pissed it down their leg. The last play of that game was the most brutal for until second and 26 happened against a team that shouldn’t have been in the playoffs to begin with

Ohio State needed
A final minute defensive stand to get past 3-9 Cal by 7
OT to beat a Wisconsin team that finished 8-6
OT to beat 6-7 Purdue
held off a 4-8 Indiana team 52-49
survived 8-5 Michigan 26-21

Bama mighta been beatable, but we were much more beatable.

ND had much similar struggles that we did that year.

We would've beaten ND no question. They would've been a much tougher matchup for Bama than ND for sure. Doubt we beat Bama but it would've been more fun to watch.

Maybe having the extra game would've helped them, but you also have to remember they were much tougher in those days on late season losses than early season. Bama lost to A&M in mid-November. It could've gone any which way, but gun to my head, I'm guessing it's ND vs. Ohio State. Remember, they already had ND ahead of Bama in the BCS rankings. If they weren't on a postseason ban, OSU would've also had the 13th win in the B1G CCG.

That team sleepwalked a lot that year, and you have to think it'd be easy to do when you know there's nothing to play for. I'm not saying they'd have beaten Bama, but it would've been interesting.

Bama are definitely the kings of backing into titles due to fuck ups/misfortune of other teams though. Gotta hand it to them though, they seem to completely take advantage every time of the opportunity and win it all when they are given those 2nd chances. That's why they'll probably win it this year too.

If Alabama wins the playoffs this year, that’ll be close to 10 bullshit natty claims in their history. You can mention 1941 all you want, but 64 and 73 are the most egregious IMO

Interesting question...

If Alabama wins the NC, obviously they would be National Champions.

But can you be a legit National Champion if you win a playoff when you shouldn't have been there in the first place?

Ohio State would have been in so much trouble against Alabama in 2012.

If they beat Georgia I hope they hang a banner. I’ll gladly share our national title with a legitimate team, unlike the 97 Nebraska frauds.

If you’re a P5 program that goes undefeated in a season including the bowl game, you win a national title. Hard stop.
Your 97 season still has 2 seconds left on the clock you rat bastards for being cowards and running off the field

Probably should learn to spike balls better.

If Michigan and Washington lose ... Florida State will be the only undefeated P5 team.

ohio state would have lost to Michigan
Michigan will have lost to Alabama or Texas
Alabama will have lost to Texas (maybe twice)
Georgia will have list to Florida State
Texas will have lost to Oklahoma
Washington will have lost to Texas or Alabama

Florida State will have lost to nobody. FSU should not be punished again for a dumbass decision made by the committee to gift Alabama a playoff spot.

they also got away with a blatant uncalled OPI when Taylor shoved Woodson lmao
Not to mention it would have taken an Alabama/Auburn-esc miracle for them to actually score a TD. It's not like they were on the goal line. They were on like the 30 yard line. They lose that game even if 2 seconds are added back.

"Assuming" that Georgia loses to FSU. Unless that second string QB gets a ton better in a few weeks time, I dont see Georgia losing to FSU.

Goofy shit happens in these non playoff bowl games, but yea I can't see FSU winning with either of those QBs either. FSU has some good backs but it's hard to be effective running when you have zero passing threat.

It would never happen, but I wouldn’t have any issue at all if UGA just played prevent defense all game and every offensive play was a run up the middle just to let FSU win. There’s no difference between 13-1 and 12-2 when you’re not in the playoffs

Also think it would be pretty gangster if FSU just took a knee or punted on first down every offensive possession out of protest
