Refs should not be above criticism.
Just do the math. All 4 conferences expanded. The Pac-12 refs might be getting some home games, but there are more games in every other region of the country. Somewhere there is a crew working an SEC game that used to ref Sun Belt games and a Sun Belt game getting reffed by guys that used to ref Friday nights...and so on and so on.I had three TVs going this past Saturday and posting here a lot. I didn't see a single targeting being called. It could have happened in games I wasn't watching or I could have missed it at a certain time. I know they say holding could probably be called on every play. I know that defenders can jam receivers within the first five yards (I think). But when a defender has an arm draped across your chest before the ball gets there, or bats the receiver's hands out of the way before the ball gets there or never looks back for the ball, that seems like an easy call for the ref. I don't mean every one of these plays is easy to spot, but there are some that are glaring. So inconsistent from game to game. I have seen good blocks be called holding.
