This is a serious question. They have 4 teams in top 10 (5 last week). I know that rankings are not the be-all, end-all but to even achieve that is an accomplishment. These teams had to win all (or most in the case of tOSU) to get this high in the poll.

There are also some solid OOC wins such as Auburn and Iowa State.

I would love to see a B1G and SEC Comparison and get a thought of the consensus of this board on how these leagues stack up.

We just posed this question to Michael Jordan in front of a live studio audience. Here we see his reaction.

How do the BigTen & SEC stack up?

SEC >>>>>>>>>>>>>> BigTen

If OSU took care of business against Oregon, you could make an argument for it.

But they didn't. SEC probably has 2 teams better than the B1G best, but I think the B1G fills in the next 3. Then it's probably pretty comparable for a bit

SEC is definitely hurting with Florida, LSU, and Texas A&M not living up to their rankings.

The B1G has the best 3-5 team in the country. Can the SEC say that?

It also has the two best teams with stadiums over 105,000 in the country. Suck it SEC!

MSU isn’t nearly as good as the rankings say but they have to be somewhere

I did this really fast to get discussion going. Not even sure I have the teams ranked properly within the conferences.

I'll put it this way.

Penn State with Clifford is probably the best or second-best team in the B1G and I think they lose against Auburn at a neutral site this year ( a white night game at home was a massive advantage). Auburn is a middle-of-the-pack SEC team this year.

I don't see anyone in the B1G beating Georgia or Alabama and as long as they are healthy Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Auburn could play with any of them. Not saying they would win but it would be a game and they would not be big dogs against the best in the B1G.

I honestly don't see Iowa or Michigan State beating anyone in the SEC I listed. A healthy Penn State and Ohio State would hold their own against anyone but UGA and Bama.

So no the B1G is not stronger because their best teams are on par with our second-tier teams this year and our second tier has a much wider bench.

I would take Michigan over aTm and it looks like you are assuming the best game from the SEC and the worst from the Big10 teams.

I would also go with Iowa over UK. Even though I support UK in my avatar.

Does Michigan even throw the ball?

Honestly, I wouldn't touch that game because it would all depend on which Texas A&M showed up. They definitely proved they can beat anyone on their schedule, they are just politely choosing not to at times.

I wouldn't, Iowa couldn't win a scoring contest with KY and I think that is exactly what would happen.

This is the case with the traditional preseason top ten team that doesn't live up to their ranking. You always want to watch out for them.

Oh, I am sure my SEC bias is showing in that I know the SEC teams and don't know much about the B1G teams. Some things I thought about:

- The main players in the B1G all have backloaded schedules with you guys playing your best teams late. Will be interesting to see how that shakes out. I mean what team is the best one you've played so far? You have UM, tOSU, Purdue, PSU ... your 4 toughest games all season coming up. I am a fan, BTW, think a lot of your HC! Same with UM and tOSU. It's going to be a brutal last 5 weeks in the B1G east.

- Auburn, who I don't think is all that good, went toe to toe with PSU in a white out. And PSU is one of your top teams as they beat Iowa if their QB doesn't get hurt. That makes me wonder how good those middle schools are.

- tOSU losing at home to Oregon made me discount them and the B1G, but they are rounding into shape as usual.

I am truly going to enjoy watching B1G games the last 5 weeks.

As you said, I’m not sure about the matchups but here’s how I would pick these games:

SEC:
Georgia over Ohio State
Alabama over Michigan State
Ole Miss over Minnesota
Florida over Purdue
Tennessee over Maryland
LSU over Wisconsin
Arkansas over Illinois
South Carolina over Northwestern

Big Ten:
Michigan over Aggie
Iowa over Kentucky
Penn State over Auburn
Nebraska over Mississippi State
Indiana over Missouri
Rutgers over Vanderbilt

A&M is getting alot of love for being a team who lost to Arkansas and Mississippi State, and almost lost to Colorado as a 30 point favorite or whatever it was.
