Seems since 2019, they haven’t had the Devil magic working. Lost in the first round in 2020, lost the WCG last year in walk off fashion, lose the wild card series this year despite HFA and having a 2-0 lead in the 9th of game one only to allow 6 runs and then got shutout in game 2.

Have we seen the last of them backdooring their way into the playoffs just to make a deep run?

I'll say yes. If there was any Cardinals season that was destined for a World Series run, it would be with Pujols/Molina/Wainwright retiring.

Still could very well see them winning the division again next year. It's hard to see anyone outside of the Brewers challenging them.

Went out of my way to read Ben Hochman's end-of-season column in the Compost-Dispatch.

You could just feel the seething and the tears. It was delicious.

I don't expect to see any meaningful runs from the Cardinals in the foreseeable future. I see a long, dark losing period followed by a devastating cheating scandal that will rock the ballclub to its foundations.
