Short version: my Mom and Dad are trying to walk into the Nashville Public Library Downtown and a bum asks them for money. My Dad kindly says no, they're talking, bum gets belligerent and mocks what my Dad is saying in private conversation to my Mom. My Dad tells him to shove off, dude takes a handful fo change and throws it hard right at my dad's head. My Dad gets him in a headlock, security guard runs up and tells my Dad to not let him go, that the cops are on the way. Dude continues to struggle, then calms down and, long story short, before the cops arrive on mountain bikes, the dude is in tears and apologizing. Cops run him, no priors, dude is telling all about having a bad run of luck, cops ask my Dad if he wants to press charges for the battery, he says no, they shake hands and walk away. My Mom hates confrontation and was traumatized by it.
