Than the media when the Yankees are really good like this year? Every fucking show that talks about baseball is Yankees dick sucking.

My God. It might be worse this year than in 98

Meh, it’ll stop when they once again fail to reach the World Series. I also look for them to fall off a bit in the second half. They’ve got some pitchers that are far exceeding their career norms and I don’t think that’s sustainable. Their offense is very legit though

Thus far, this season's team is a fair bit better than the '98 team.

year/ops+/era+

2022/120/130

1998/116/116

I'd agree but it's been pretty warranted thus far. 52-18 is very remarkable, and it's not like they're significantly outperforming their run differential (+146, one win ahead of their pythag W-L). They only have to go 48-44 from here on out to reach 100 wins.

Their worst SP by ERA+ has been Severino, and he still has a 116 ERA+. And that was with him missing almost all of 2019-21. I do think the rotation will regress a bit (they have a combined .267 BABIP allowed, which is rather low) but they're still near the top in various metrics (K/9, BB/9, FIP, xFIP). If anything, I'd say the only real question mark is health.

They about to mess around and lose Judge

Wrong side of 30 with a history of injuries, I'd stay clear of a long term big money deal with him. Sucks for him that he was such an old rookie that he's over 30 when his rookie deal is over. He's older than Harper and just a few months younger than Trout, and it seems like they were around forever before Judge was ever called up

Yeah, it's a bit weird...Harper not even 30?

Not sure any other teams outside of NY would pay what he wants. The Mets (1962-2015) would surely overpay for him.

He's either gonna be a Yankee or a Giant. I thought the deal he was offered before the season was pretty strong considering his age and injury history though

They were ready to hit major league pitching as teenagers though. I very much doubt that Judge was capable of doing that so his free agency calendar would still have been dated well beyond theirs even if he hadn't gone to college.

I agree. I just think of Harper and Trout as players who have been around forever and still think of Judge as a youngster even though they're all the same age.

it's crazy to think that Harper was in his fifth season when Judge made his debut, and Judge is older.

It’s crazier that Jonathon Schoop has more hits and rbi than Judge and they’re both only 30.

They’ve hit 20+ homers the same amount of times too. It’s crazy how old Judge is compared to how I think of his career.
