This is what College Football should still be. You have teams from every conference (in many cases multiple teams) that could win it all. The nation is actually engaged this year. It seems like the dead lock of Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State (plus sometimes 1 other SEC team) is being broken.

SEC (4 legit contenders):

1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Tennessee
4. Ole Miss

B1G (2 legit contenders):

1. Ohio State
2. Michigan

ACC (2, yes 2, legit contenders):

1. Clemson
2. Syracuse

Big12 (1 contender and 1 long shot)

1. TCU
2. Oklahoma State

Pac12 (3 contenders)

1. UCLA
2. Oregon
3. USC

I wanted to break down every team's chances and situation but this is making for some great football and a great finish. The only negative is that we may likely have at least one team that has the argument to be in the playoffs that won't make it.

Also from a Geographical perspective, the contenders are all even spread across the nation.

It is shaping up to be a pretty great rest of the season deal. The only thing I don't want to screw it up is INJURIES. We have some usuals and newcomers to the early CFP picture. I want the teams to be at full power.

Playoff contenders...or title contenders?

No one in the PAC is a title contender. Same with BigXII.

I get what you are saying but you never know. Who would of that Tennessee would be #3 at this point 4 weeks ago?

TCU is playing with a lot of heart and intensity like Tennessee.

UCLA is still unbeaten in Pac12 and in the mix. Oregon and USC are very long shots. We would need to have absolute pandemonium for them to get into the playoffs even if either won out.

I think a lot of teams may fall off in next few weeks but it is going to make for an interesting ending. There are usually not this many unbeatens at this point of the season.

In the end, it may come down to Georgia vs. Ohio State which would be chalk but I think it has been a little while since we have had such an interesting and diverse lineup of contenders.

I think Kstate has more of a chance that Okie St. If they win out and win the Big12CCG that would be a good resume.

Kansas State was probably eliminated because they lost to Tulane. Hard to imagine them getting in over any 1 loss team after that loss :(.

Bold part is obviously false.

Also, yesterday's game aside, Tennessee is not a serious title contender.

OKST 95% controls their own destiny.
They will have beaten every team on their schedule (probably) and only had one loss.

They are not a long shot.

Lots of teams control their own destiny. That doesn't mean they are serious title contenders.

Nice list, OP.

My guess is a Georgia repeat, but we'll see.

Remember when Dez Howard had Texas A&M and Pitt in his final 4?

bahahahaha good times

True. But OKST and their schedule is one that is.

If you're listing that a team is a serious title contender based on their schedule (and not based on their ability to win multiple games vs. top 4 opposition), you're doing it wrong.

If they beat us they are.

I've not been a believer in Bama's defense this year. But what other teams have a D that can stop or slow down UTjr? They can score some points. Also, wonder how much of an advantage the home field was. That was a crazy environment to play in. Will be the opposite in Athens. They beat us in Athens, they are going to the CFP even if Bama beats them in Atlanta.

I see what is being said. I agree to a certain point. Did Cincy have the ability to win multiple games vs. top 4 opposition last season?

Not at all.

Serious playoff contender? Sure. Serious title contender? Not a chance.

They have many less glaring holes in their game than Bama. That’s the truth. And no one has a problem listing Bama
