No question, the new format is to maximize revenue for the league, but with the old(ish) format of 2 wild card teams playing the 1-game play-ins, all playoffs were kicked off with two elimination games, which I thought was badass.

It also set up the possibility of a team playing four different opponents in five days in five different cities, which I also think would be badass.

Fuck the new format. Fuck Manfred. Fuck you.

I am indifferent on the new format. It's helped the Phillies in the past, we'll see if they figure out the bye.

They'd only celebrate a bye in the current format. In any of the prior formats, they'd only celebrate clinching the division, because there wasn't any other incentives for having the second best record in the league.

I will be honest, I had no idea where Cincinnati was in Ohio so I didn't know it was on the border there

part of me thinks they would have just broke them out when they clinched the division but who knows

if the Phils break out some new shirt (Stay Loose and Sexy) when they get that bye then we will know MLB merchandising has influence on it.
