Using money was illegal at the time. I think the savings bond angle was a way around that.

i think with Amway, you're only out what you spend on training materials, etc

and of course all your friends and family who don't want to hear about amway or sign up to be an amway rep

could be, maybe it was just baseball cards instead of cash or something. I know I got a letter, once from a friend, I didn't participate

There are multiple scams going on. There's buying training materials, attending motivational seminars, and buying monthly inventory you need to unload on other suckers.

i didn't think you had to actually buy the inventory, but not an expert

in college someone tried to get me to be a quixtar rep, which was owned by amway, just their online version

I understand your thought process, and must admit that if I heard a dude talking about his Ugg slippers, I would assume that at the very least, he likes giving hand jobs.
