Urban in the room next door

I’m not sure why NFL owners need to be repeatedly reminded that college coaching isn’t the same as NFL coaching. Outside of Pete Carroll, I’m hard-pressed to think of a recent successful college coach who became a successful NFL coach.
Jimmy Johnson

Rumor is the NFL hates this guy and is doing this public shaming stuff to get him out of the league. I guess they aren’t big fans of Ruhl and Kingsbury either. Word is what Urban is being crucified for is standard behavior for most NFL coaches the difference being the media simply does not report on them because the NFL doesn’t allow it. Seems reasonably truthful.

I know Schwartz had a mistress here in Detroit and it wasn’t exactly a secret.

Kingsbury seems better suited for the NFL than college. Rhule is doing good things in Carolina too, saving Sam Darnold’s career that seemed dead and gone.

The college coaches that rule with an iron fist or rely heavily on landing top recruits are gonna fall flat in the NFL more times than not though.

On the flip side, coaches that come up through the NFL ranks are gonna have a tough time in college usually, they’re not gonna like the recruiting grind, and they’re usually an NCAA sanction waiting to happen

It sometimes happens.

Coach Bro in Arizona seems to be doing okay, and Matt Rhule in Carolina is having a pretty good season so far. May not translate into championships, we will have to wait and see

Jim Harbaugh was the last one.

As for Urban, this has really gotta suck. He probably won't get to stick around to further develop the roster and to see if his QB develops into a star payer.

Maybe that's what he wants, so he can go back to college and take the Notre Dame or Southern Cal job

I like both of those and think they may be the exceptions to the rule, but time will tell on them. I definitely think they’re doing better than most.

Urban is better suited to coach college football.

Probably, but the way he quits every school is so strange, he has to go through all these machinations to take the next job so he doesn't look like the complete doosh he really is
