Jamaica. Your thoughts?

It's ok, but you'd be better off going to The Caymans, Turks & Caicos, Virgin Islands, The eastern Caribbean Islands, or even the Bahamas.

heard Turks and Caicos is expensive as fuck.

I think the Virgin Islands are too

Been to Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados, the Bahamas and Belize.

Belize and Barbados were the best.

Going to Costa Rica this summer.

I am hitting Puerto Rico in April. Cheap, direct flight, good food.

It's not too bad if you're just going for a few days vacation, plus it's MUCH safer than Jamaica, and you don't have the aforementioned hawkers trying to belligerently trying to sell you shit, it's much more laid back, and you can go anywhere and feel safe, i.e you don't need to stay inside a resort. Same with V.I. plus IMO both are prettier than Jamaica.

Get some Mofungo. Went there on a business trip about 15 years ago.

Make sure you order Don Q rum so you don't look like a tourist

that's the plan

second time going...I like it there

Anybody here been to Jamaica before. Thinking about possibly booking a trip there in the next several months and curious if anybody has been there before and your thoughts. Good and bad.
Went there last July.

You literally could not pay me enough to go back ever again.

Hit Aruba. That's the place to be.

Never been but my Brother has a couple of times. They loved it. The only complaint I heard from him was there are a lot of locals that like to pester you to buy their knicknacks and there are some areas that are not meant for tourists so plan your routes

Been to the Bahamas, Costa Rica and went to Belize about 8 years ago. I'd do Belize and Costa Rica again for sure.

Went there back in like '94...we got a "taxi van" to drive us around. That motherfucker stopped at his family's roadside knick knack stand. Holy fuck was that the most annoying shit ever. They were relentless. They would not take no for an answer, and would not let you walk away. I didn't have a pot to piss in...I ended up trading a pack and a half of Marlboro reds for some wood duck looking deal.

Oh, and EVERYTHING was touched or once owned by Bob Marley.:rolleyes2:

Them motherfuckers were literally tryna climb through the windows of the van as we were driving off. I bet we were there for an hour and a half, when you could've seen everything they had to offer in 15 minutes.
Had something similar happen in Hawaii. We were on a van tour of the volcano area, and the driver made a stop at this person's house who sold knick knacks and coffee. Wasn't nearly as high pressure as what you described, but it still rubbed us the wrong way. We just wanted to see the volcano.

Yup, and everything smells of ditch-weed. I've been there three times so I feel I can make an informed decision. And that decision is Jamaica gets hit by a lot of hurricanes because they deserve it.

Gross.
There are better Caribbean spots to visit.

Jamaica was the first island we went to...honeymoon 23 years ago. Never had the urge to go back.

Belize is nice. Ive been there a couple times.
Roatan is a beautiful Honduran island with nice people. Jamaicans act like dicks.
Stick with the ABC islands and you honestly can't go wrong. If you need cheaper and faster, then Playa/Riviera Maya in Mexico is your best bet as long as you aren't a Canadian drug dealer.

Was headed to Aruba, but they had some whack Covid policies at the time, so we switched our plans to Costa Rica.
