Jim Harbaugh gone to NFL

I want Harbaugh to stay. I hope he stays. But let's get on with it already. At this point, it's starting to hurt the ability to recruit and there is another signing day coming up (and our class isn't technically full). We're also looking to now fill a void DC slot and I can't imagine this is helping that search either. Either leave or stay, but dragging this on for a month is dumb.

FWIW

I also think the best possible scenario is that the AD is already preparing in case he leaves and instantly offers the job to Gattis. Keep the staff together and provide some consistency.

Yeah, at this point, you can’t find a decent head coach this late without spending out the ass. If Harbaugh leaves, he really fucked over Michigan by delaying things.

There are many qualified NFL assistant coaches that are younger, have less baggage and have a better upside.

I don't think it's impossible to get someone, I just don't see any super interesting options out there that are better, or less of a risk, than just elevating Gattis. I used to be on the Matt Campbell train but even he's had some issues lately with beating top teams.

This constant flirting of the HC with the NFL has got to be doing wonders for recruiting :dhd:

Knowing how the Vikings roll they'll probably shoot themselves in the foot and hire Harbaugh.
I think Harbaugh would do really well with their already Harbaugh-like roster. Cook and Mattison are really great downhill NFL running backs.

I think most years it has been just BS rumors. It's clear this year he's actually flirting with the idea and I think this is the "Final" one of these. He's either going to go back to the NFL and retire in the NFL or he's going to stay at Michigan with plans to retire at Michigan. The good news is that most of our class is settled. The bad news is that they can no leave without penalty if he bolts. But he has been tellign recruits he's going to entertain offers, so at least they're not going to be blindsided if he goes.

Harbaugh had a great opportunity in San Francisco with a loaded team but couldn't get along with ownership.

A loaded team....with kaepernick at QB? A QB that no NFL team has even made a backup since Harbaugh left?

Kaepernick destroyed his career by being outspoken and not because of any limitations talent wise. Do you really believe Kirk Cousins is any better?

Yes. I think Cousins is a top 15 NFL QB right now. If kaepernick was a top 15 NFL QB, he'd be on a roster in spite of his political opinions. Minnesota needs a better defense and a better offensive line.

No, Kaepernick is toxic to any NFL team and Cousins is a mistake prone QB that couldn't win with an Pro Bowl RB and excellent WRs.

The Minnesota offense wasn't the problem. They ranked 14th in the NFL in PPG. They ranked 25th in PPG on defense.
