Jimbo to WVU?

If I had $75m, you couldn't tempt me with more money if it meant I had to work. What am I going to do with another $75m that I can't do with my current $75m?

Again, Ryan Day isn't grossly underperforming to the point he's being fired so the two situations aren't comparable. If you think you're making a point, you have fallen well short.
Jimbo has a natty with less talent than several of Day's teams and if you swap those two guys out there wouldn't be that much difference between the two.

Ryan Day isn't commanding a $76m buyout and wildly underachieving so I'm not sure what your point is.
AOF I agree with you. Day, fair or not, will be fired for either not beating Michigan or not winning a national championship. Pretty lofty expectations for any coach. Where Jimbo has just simply underperformed

Jimbo won a natty in a year where the final top 5 rankings consisted of Missouri, Michigan State, and South Carolina. It was one of the weakest seasons of college football in recent memory, possibly weaker than 2007 even. We saw the real Jimbo the following year when he was embarrassed by Oregon and never truly succeeded ever again. Ryan Day had Fields in 2019 and 2020, seasons with LSU and Bama teams that are talked about among the greatest of all-time. A shanked FG kept him from a NC last season against a Georgia team that would have annihilated Jimbo's best team ever. Again, these two situations aren't comparable, and Day doesn't even have anything to do with this conversation.

Day won't be fired. Much more likely scenario is he goes to the pros.

Will be interesting to see if WV sticks with Brown. Could Jimbo head back home? When asked if he would ever consider returning to coach the Mountaineers, Fisher said the following: “You don’t ever say never in this business. Home is home. I love West Virginia and it’s very near and dear to my heart. I love them and have always rooted for them my whole life. You never say never in this business where it takes you. I’m happy where I’m at and I love where I’m at, but home is home.”

Well, Jimbo is no longer "where he is at" and is walking away with $75 mil
With no offset ... he could start earning double, really fast.

People who have the intellect and/or skill to make that kind of money don't think that way. He won't be an announcer. He will coach again. Going home makes some sense. Who could WVa do better with?

You're severely under valuing that FSU team. They were definitely an elite team. And I'd for sure put them on par with these UGA teams. It's hard to historically rate 2020 Alabama, IMO because of the season shit show. I would say 2019 LSU was better than 2013 FSU, but OSU never even got to play them, so I don't understand that comparison. I'd say 2019 Clemson and 2013 FSU are similarly rated.

Eh, I think there are plenty of people who went and had their cup of coffee, made some dough (maybe not $75m but enough to be comfortable) and fucked off out of the spotlight.

Strongly disagree. Clemson beat 2 ranked teams that year before the NC that they needed miraculous late 4th quarter drive to win at the buzzer over a very mediocre Auburn team that was completely 1-dimensional on offense and unimpressive on defense. They were the best team that year, but again, it was a significantly weaker year than we've seen any other time recently. If 2019 Clemson is your comparison, you're proving my point. 2019 LSU was obviously better, and 2020 Bama was also easily better.

Yes, it was a weaker year, but they destroyed their competition minus the CG. 2019 LSU and 2020 Bama had close games, it just so happened to not be in the NCG. Why does FSU get penalized for playing a close game, but not the others? Yes, I would say 2019 LSU is better, as is 2020 Bama because of resume. And yeah, 2019 Clemson a good comparison, and OSU lost to them, which is why I don't get that comparison for bringing them up.

Don't even kid about Ryan Day being fired.

I mean, it’s probably an upgrade but then..

1. RichRod is a better fit for the Big12 and

2. Why wouldn’t Michigan State go after him?

Blah blah blah your coach is really no better just plays more subpar competition.

Dude, you listen to MnB and newphone too much if you think that's even in the realm of possibility.
I seem to recall many tosu fans on here about a year ago saying that very thing. Plus, I work with several alums and they feel pretty strongly that could happen
