Johnny Manziel went on a 5 million dollar bender then tried to off himself after being released by the Brownies.

I watched the special on Netflix and it was decent but there is a lot more to the story that isn't being told. It's about an hour and a half and I would say half of it is basically about his time at aTm and it moves quickly through high school, draft, NFL and doesn't touch the CFL or indoor leagues he tried after. It also included nothing on his sister who was a social media content machine for a while when all this was going on. It almost felt like Manziel had editorial control and picked what he wanted to include and you really didn't learn anything that hasn't already been reported except for the bipolar diagnosis (which is one quick statement and then they move on) and his planning on killing himself. I would also throw out there that Manziel in the past has thrown out fake stories and narratives to cover his own ass so I think you have to be skeptical about some of the things he says.

I watched it this weekend and was very underwhelmed.

I'm calling absolute BS on the suicide story. This guy is just as big a scumbag as he was then, if not moreso, but he's out of the limelight and needed attention.

It wouldn't surprise me and that's why I added you have to be skeptical when he is the only one backing up the story. he definitely has no issue with changing the narrative to fit his purpose or make himself look better.

I didn't watch it but now I have no reason to. You're one of many that are saying it was a completely one-sided type of story designed to make him seem like a different person.

I wouldn’t go that far. I’d just say the story is incomplete and sticks to things already reported. It doesn’t go into great detail about his NCAA investigation

Sounds like a lot of glossed over/slanted. That sort of angle coupled with the unsubstantiated and unlikely "suicide" part make it a pretty big waste of 90 minutes.

Top 5 ever?

Young
Newton
P. Manning
Luck
Lamar Jackson
Tebow
Frazier
Miami probably has had 4 better
USC probably has had 4 better

That list is in no particular order but I wouldn't put him in the top 20.

Burrow is tough because it was basically that one year and his receiver talent and protection were insane. Swap places with him and Eli Manning and I'm not sure Burrow has the career Manning had at Ole Miss. I love the kid and I'm a Bengals fan but it's a tough evaluation.

It’s a laughable lie. If you want to fire a weapon and it “just clicks” you put the weapon down and give up? And a $5M bender? I bet at no point did he ever have that much money.

The gun part is so dumb. Did his dumbass not load it? I don't doubt the $5m part though, I'm pretty sure he comes from Texas oil money so the dude's never been close to poor. Which makes me further believe the gun part is BS because he could afford a very good quality gun.

The oil money story was bullshit he and his friends made up to cover money he was taking for signing merchandise. His family didn’t have money.

Did not know that, thank you. Yeah $5m sounds like an embellishment

Did he spend 5 mil on a single bender? Probably not. But he would have had the money. He earned at least 7 mil from his NFL contract (the rest he didn't get since he was cut). He also earned several mil in endorsements. I'd bet at least 10 to 15 mil from those. But going on the conservative side, he at one point probably had around 17 mil. Now there's taxes involved and such but he's still gonna have a significant chunk of change. I doubt he blew 5 mil on a single night bender. But I do think its easily possible he blew most, if not all, of his millions on booze/drugs/partying.
