JUST GIVE US A CALL

I'd love to see some kind of promotion/relegation system where teams are added/dropped from the top conferences for constantly doing good or constantly being shitty. That would never happen but it would make things funner.

Lol. It would be nice not to see Rutgers and Vandys of the world get clobbered by the rest of the conference every year. I suppose someone else would just step in for the clobbering but at least it would be a change of face.

I could see Rutgers moving to 7-5, 8-4 level on a weak crossover schedule. NJ has decent players, just need to corral some more. Wisconsin has done pretty well with RBs from there.

I am thinking SEC will feel pressure to add FSU and/or Miami to prevent the B1G from dipping into Florida. Only having one Florida school doesn't lock-up the valuable state for the SEC and I think the SEC wants to be the king in Florida.

I agree with your lists of candidates. I think UNC is probably high on SEC radar due to new market and UNC is decent on football and a blue-blood in basketball.
That s a good point on not giving them a foothold in Florida, but it also means 3 teams in Florida. UGA, Bama won't like that. I am just not sold on Miami. Pro stadium, not on campus. Nah. But, South Beach destination for away games, I'm in.

Well if they bring ND & Oregon that would be 18.

At that point I think Louisville and Okie State would probably make the most sense as 19 & 20.

I'm having a hard time seeing Da U, FSU & Clemson joining the Big 10
Those two don't match your academic profile. No AAU. My guess would be go after UNC, UVa, maybe Duke.

I can agree. I think FSU would be the best option. I think SEC definitely grabs FSU to get Florida and maybe grabs Miami. Miami is so iffy. I can see Miami going to either the B1G or SEC or I can see them being left out totally. Someone will want FSU and I think FSU wants SEC so it will likely happen.

with them it isn't about the money from TV deals.. it's a pride thing
At some point the money might get big enough. ND only makes about $30 million from NBC, maybe less. That's way less than the $110+ million they would get in the B1G.

Agree. UNC is the one program that is going to be probably the most fought over from both the B1G and SEC because both options work for UNC and UNC has value to both leagues.

Rutgers has shown improvement at least under Schiano, not sure they will every be consistently competitve but you can't just mark them off as a completely sleep walk easy W anymore.

Yeah, both leagues have these teams. Even Kentucky and Vandy have years were they are not walkover wins as well. Heck, Kentucky is a top 5 SEC program coming into this season right now.

There will be years were Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers, etc. will make noise. However, the odds are definitely against them. I will also state that is far fetched to imagine these teams ever win a National Title or even make Playoffs.

Illinois has been a pain in the ass at times, even when they are shitty they seem to always get up for 1 or 2 games a season against teams they have no business competing with.

They got dangerously close to beating us in 2002 (year we won the BCS title) and 2006 (year we lost BCS title to Florida) when they were totally garbage. Little buggers.

True. I'd take UNC and Duke. It's not a big win for football but at least you add the basketball profile. Better than some of the other options

I know that football is driving the expansion, but schools like Duke, UNC, Ky and Kansas make a ton with hoops. THe B1G is a big time hoops school. And you can't add 6-8 Bama level schools. That just doesn't make sense. Adding 4 of the best football powers available, and then 2 hoops blue bloods is the way to go.

Yes nobody is getting 6-8 "power level" football schools at this point. The football driven expansion seems pretty limited for the B1G after ND and Oregon if they stick to their "academic profile"

I'd definitely take Duke and UNC over the alternative of like Boston College and Syracuse.

You can say that again!

maybe the B12 and Pac scraps can join forces after this is all said and done. I bet Oregon could lead that pack of scrubs
