JUST GIVE US A CALL

The SEC priorities will be the states of NC and Virginia.

My order of importance would be:

1 & 2. UNC and Duke (package deal)
3. Virginia Tech
4. Florida school (Miami or FSU)

If this goes down the way it looks then whoever gets in has a massive advantage so Clemson’s recent strength goes away and swings to SC and UGA.

The Crown Jewels of the ACC are UNC and Virginia. No way Virginia goes SEC but UNC will.

I think the B1G holds out and goes after ND, Virginia, GT and Clemson. They will want UNC but the SEC wins that battle.
I agree with this. I hear all this B1G is "waiting on ND" stuff as a red herring for Oregon and Washington. B1G wants a pipeline to the deep south. UNC is a better fit to them , but UNC probably prefers more locality with SEC. But make no mistake, both conferences want UNC more than anything else. UVA goes B1G, perfect fit on both sides. I'd love to see GT included in that, but it requires them to eat a shit ton of crow after turning down the invite to leave with Maryland.

Where is this view that Duke and UNC are a package deal coming from? Why?

ACC chess pieces may have been already decided & divided by the B1G & SEC.

I'll take it. I've been saying for years that ACC is on life support and it's just a matter of time. They took the initiative in 2002 (who knew Miami would become so irrelevant?) But have shit the bed on everything else they have done since then, especially that shit espn contract they pretended was so great for a short while.

I can't take any more of it, I actually hate the ACC and don't want to be in it. It's embarrassing and was about to not even compete with G5 until Clemson finally woke up. If FSU, Miami, and VT had ever got their ducks in a row and started winning again, we wouldn't be in this mess.

I know, let's add fucking Louisville, that'll fix everything.

It’s my personal view that UNC and Duke wouldn’t want to be separated, politics wouldn’t want them separated and potential leagues would want that rivalry in tact and own it.

The rivalry is worth millions a year by itself.

Ok, I'll buy it. Good riddance to UNC, but the Dukies are OK guys.

Anyhow, I just want to be invited to a table, ANY other table will do. I know we ugly. I know we poor. But we live in a talent rich area. And even though we aren't the favorite team in most of the state, People still tune in anyway. That's probably why the initial interest from B1G years ago.

I see B1G adding southwards, not westward like Oregon and Washington hopes for.

Problem is - the power brokers within GT don't care about athletics.

Politics wanted Oklahoma/Okie State & Texas/Texas Tech together too. How that turn out? :noidea:

I just think the UNC vs Duke rivalry combined with Duke’s basketball legacy make it too attractive.

They will stay together. Bedlam isn’t a national deal but regional but UNC vs Duke is must see TV.

We’re talking football and eyeballs. Not even listing Clemson is crazy. You are stuck in 2008. It’s not geography, it’s eyeballs. Not many left that can provide them. Va Tech has less fans watching games than every SEC team except Vanderbilt. Read that again. Duke is even worse.

It’s not as simple as you are laying out. Clemson is actually a pretty small school that can lose its “eyeballs” just as fast as they got them.

It’s no secret the SEC has been interested in a foothold in NC and Virginia and those territories would be the most interesting to them. FSU or Miami give you more bang for the buck then Clemson.

If things go as we think they are any team left out of the big 2 will see their relevancy plummet. In that scenario Clemson isn’t as attractive as you think. From a recruiting standpoint both Florida schools add more value and the populations of Virginia and NC are massively bigger than SC.

I get what you are saying but that isn’t how the SEC office will see it if they get to cherry pick.

Auburn has 2 national championships and we’ve had two undefeated seasons in 1993 & 2004 plus we got arguably won it all in 1983.

I think you are late to the discussion. Discussion was this Millenia (Since 2000).

SEC/BIG would both want UNC, no question. Brand, "academics" (theirs are .... questionable due to fraud but that's another thread) new footprint/market for both, make no mistake UNC and their brand is highly desirable.

Miami IMO would be a bigger get for the SEC than the BIG due to the SEC's lack of bigger markets compared to the BIG but I could see the BIG wanting them too for that same reason and to get into Florida to go with California.

Clemson/FSU are desirable, UVA too to a lesser extent.

WE might see a combo move by both the SEC and BIG to nab ND, Miami, Clemson, FSU, UVA, UNC, DUKE and maybe..GT? and destroy the ACC and its GOR with one move.

Remember that this is driven by the networks. ESPNs owns the ACC and SECs rights. They aren't going to do anything to devalue their ACC assets until the contract is up. I doubt we see anything happen with the ACC schools until their contract is up. Talks will start around 2032-2033 IMO

i think Miami is in the worst spot.. FSU seems more like the SEC type of fit. BiG and Miami? I'm not sure they take them just to have a part of FL. Miami is a private school playing in a shitty stadium that isn't close to campus. They don't fill the seats unless it's vs a brand name school to open up the season or they have a stellar team.

UNC and Duke would be terrific additions because it immediately beefs up CBB, and who knows if Mack has another run in him to get UNC on a bigger stage.

VaTech is also another school that fits the SEC moreso than UVA. My problem is now Clemson.. I get the recent run they have been on.. but is it really that much value to the SEC there? Would you take them before FSU?
