College football announcer hits back at claims that calling Noah Knigga's name will get him FIRED... but he still gets it wrong​


The announcer tasked with calling Eastern Michigan games has slammed suggestions he will lose his job after the team recruited Noah Knigga.

But Tom Helmer still slightly botched the linebacker's name when defending himself.

The 6ft 2ins Knigga committed to Eastern Michigan earlier this month. He went viral a few months ago, due to his eye-catching last name which could sound like an offensive racial slur if pronounced wrongly.

Knigga cleared up how to pronounce his name in an interview with former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III back in January. 'It's Kuh-nay-guh,' he said.

But that has not stopped fans on social media from spreading jokes and memes at Knigga's expense after the three-star linebacker's commitment.

Sometimes people choose to be offended. After Obama was elected, we were discussing how it was going to affect the nation and I said I was concerned how he was going to renege on some of his promises and show his true colors. My comment was then "If he's a reneger how is anyone going to trust him in this country or anywhere else?". A woman across the room immediately chirped "What did you call him!?". I hadn't called the man anything; I had just made a comment about his possible behavior. The next thing you know she's going off on me about my racist attitude. F me. I told her I had voted for the guy. That meant nothing. I was a racist. Now I tell people I voted for Obama the first time to prove I'm not a racist. I voted against him the second time to prove I'm not an idiot. Words have power and some people don't understand the context or true meaning of those words. Those people are impossible to deal with.
 
Do you think it’s really pronounced Kuh-nay-ga or do you think his family was bullied into that.

I mean how do you get the nay sound from “ni”.
