Older than I thought. He's one of the greatest songwriters of all time, a Rhodes Scholar, was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in the 50's and had a pretty successful acting career(I've never actually saw one of his movies, but he got a lot of work, so I can't say if he was a good or bad actor, but he was successful)

And he discovered who might be my all time favorite musician(impossible to definitively rank, but definitely in the discussion), John Prine and Steve Goodman on the same night in Chicago.

So you worship Bob Dylan but you never saw him and Kristofferson in the Billy the Kid movie?

I actually worship Kristofferson more than Dylan. I might have seen it as a kid, don't remember it though. Favorite musician in a movie was Dwight Yoakam in Slingblade.

Kris is OK in my book. I'm not a fan of his music although he had a couple of decent (for me) tunes. I remember seeing him in a few movies and he was good in those too.

Can't say I'm all that impressed with the Rhodes Scholarship, not even sure why that matters. I am however stunned that he is 85 😳

Anyways, happy birthday to the crusty old fart :suds:

I just find it funny that an Oxford educated guy’s friends were mostly high school drop outs that grew up picking cotton that used music as a way to escape poverty

That part is pretty cool for sure however the fact that he is damn near my parent's age has me feeling old.

I hate almost all Country music, but never minded Kristofferson, Cash, Williams ... and Parton ... Fight me.

Aww, little @PackJason has a sad. Not surprising that a doosh that hates almost all Country music, but never minded Kristofferson, Cash, Williams ... and Parton is confused.

Yeah, the rest of it pretty much sucks.

I also forgot Nelson and the only newer good one, Stapleton.

Does it hurt your feelings that I know so much about a genre of music I generally don't like?
