No choice. Just cut the lead to 3. Needed him to cool off the Dodgers bats to give them a chance. Don't want to risk giving back the 2 runs you just got.

True. But it's about cooling them off and hopefully whoever comes in later benefits from that. Not what he had in mind at the start of the game, but that 4 run inning by the Dodgers forced his hand. Plus, it's a bullpen game for the Dodgers so you're figuring they have a chance to get more runs.
