It’s that good. A gazillionth sequel that is self aware, has a coherent plot, consistent character motivations, fun, scary, perfect tone. So impressed.

That first True Detective ‘season’ is pretty rad.
Not in the same discussion as BoB.

Godfather is not in the same discussion.
Saving Private Ryan is not in the same discussion.
Green Mile is not in the same discussion.

Watched an old 1980 military movie called The Final Countdown starring Martin Sheen and Burt Lancaster. I'd give it a 6/10. The story is about the carrier Nimitz going back in time to WW2 and Pearl Harbour. Yeah a bit cheezy, but once you get a nose full of beers in you, it's not too bad.

Well-trodden ground of a resistance movement during ww2. But this one is done well, has heart, very grounded.

Gone Baby Gone, 2007 with Casey Affleck, Ed Harris, etc.

It's EXTREMELY rare that Hollywood put out a movie whose theme & message is this damn good. The moral juxtapositions in this movie are about as realistic as anything I've seen in a long time.

I'm not talking about the plot being realistic or lacking plot holes; that's just the nuts & bolts. I'm talking about moral dilemmas in general where you have people who try to play God & bend the rules, and you have people who don't.

10 / 10 as far as I'm concerned. Definitely worth a re-watch if you saw it a decade ago.

Ana de Armas is truly an h compelling screen presence. The movie takes very long to get going given that we already have a well-laden universe. Actress isn’t up to the physical feats. The plot is pretty thin, and it isn’t cohesive even given that, double-whammy.
But I have to say that it got better as it went along, and those set pieces got better and better to the point of awesome.

He was very convincing. The whole cast was (Amy Ryan was great, playing a white-trash, shitty mother).

She is incredibly underrated. I thought that she gave one of the best performances in "The Wire" and it feels like a lot of people didn't really notice it because they "don't like" the second season.
