Commanders fire DL coach Mills, cite 'philosophy'

Commanders coach Ron Rivera cited a "difference of philosophy" as the reason for firing defensive line coach Sam Mills on Tuesday. Mills had been with Rivera since 2011 and is being replaced by his assistant, Jeff Zgonina.

Interesting that Mills has been seen as a total Rivera guy for years and now that they went to this black hole of dysfunction they have “philosophical differences”.

Guessing Mills and Del Rio suddenly don't see eye to eye on a few things.

Google tells me that the Dolphins fired their first-year OL coach in 2019 during camp. I guess it's not unheard of, but it's odd that there's suddenly a philosophical difference between Mills and Rivera, since they've been coaching together for around a decade.

Probably right, but I know that Rivera is serious about the vax because of his own health issues. And if the NFL isn't mandating it then it could just be a team issue and what better way to explain it than just "difference of philosophy".
