Let’s Talk Uniforms....

Will every MLB team have a “City Connects” uniform?

Yes, but not all at once. Six other teams besides the Red Sox will be part of the program this season: the Marlins (whose alternate will make its on-field debut on May 21), White Sox (June 5), Cubs (June 12), D-backs (June 18), Giants (July 9), and Dodgers (late August).

Even the Yankees?

Yes, even the Yankees.

Here’s a decent forum thread laying the ones this year out. I’ll say this....some really nice (Brewers, Dodgers) as alternates. Others (Orioles, Marlins) are gross.

Boston is still the grossest of them to me.

Errrr....maybe these are old. I see the posts are 2018.

With that, I saw this. For fuck sakes....

Thanks. It does give some hint though. I could easily get behind half of the old examples I saw. I’m sure there are hit and misses with the NBA city ones too.

I wonder if those NBA City ones sell well. Of course, even if they do it doesn’t mean MLB ones will. Much more traditional fan base in baseball over basketball.

If I read that thread correctly, it was just a couple of dudes fucking around with graphic design shit and taking a stab at City unis. The Boston one wasn't close to what the final product looked like.

Nike is going to find some obscure Boston thing that they are going to cling to, like the Boston Marathon finish line for the Red Sox, and make a uniform. Very likely they can't do with the Celtics since the Celtics won't go away from green.

Yep. @ill corrected me. In my zeal to find the whole collection I sucked myself into that forum. Only Boston has been announced so far.

But I do like the one they proposed for Boston much better.

Pathetic. Only losers will buy that crap.

Just an example of what Nike is doing in Europe, here's Inter's new 3rd kit just unveiled. I seriously wonder about the hiring criteria in Nike's "creativity department". Most of the shit they come out with looks worse than what a kindergartener would draw.

Why am I not surprised to see Rod in here bitching about any team ever altering their uniforms.
