Lincoln Riley really robbing everybody

Is it tornado season out there?
Oh yeah, we are dodging and ducking lol. People that aren’t used to them are scared to death of them but I’ve lived here a long time and have actually only seen one with my own eyes. They deserve a healthy respect, but that’s why a lot of people have a shelter in their garage floor or outside. Nowhere in the world do the news station spend money on weather equipment like here, it’s unreal in the spring time.

I always thought that being a stormchaser would be a really cool job. Storms, expecially tornado's and hurricanes fascinate me. One of my favorite parts of living in Florida for a few years was the awesome storms.

California storms suck. lol

OU is one of the biggest meteorological schools in the world. 3 storm chaser students got killed in a wreck coming back from chasing storms in Kansas a few days ago.

I heard about that. Awful news.

The agent isn't part of the team or the school. It just like the dead recruiting period where College Coaches can go watch a recruit play another sport, cannot in any way communicate with the recruit, but they are allowed to talk to the player's coaches.

Once the NCAA allowed kid's to have NIL agents -- circumventing NCAA rules are beyond easy. Schools can recruit players from other schools without ever saying a word to the player. They can simply go thru the agent, who isn't involved with the team/school.

Welcome to College Football 2022.
He represents the kid. So if you’re a school looking to poach a kid talking to his agent is no legal difference than talking to the kid himself.

Except the agent has nothing to do with the team or school. His only job is to find the kid NIL deals. So if a representative from USC's NIL collective (which includes no one in the USC program) contacts the agent (who isn't involved with the "fill in the blank program" and says -- I can get you NIL deals for "x amount" if you were in California.

And you are confusing legality with NCAA rules. It is two completely different things.

From what I understand, the schools can participate in helping set up NIL deals (hence Texas apparently having one that pays their o-linemen $50k each). But the money can't be from the school.

I agree with what Riley said that if things continue as they are, there will be changes made to address some of the shenanigans. Just not sure what they can do.
the school vets the companies/collectives/charities to make sure it's legit.. but that's about all the involvement the school has with NIL deals such as the pancake factory. Right now it's a riot.. you have legit collectives raising the floor for position groups/roster. Then you have the ones who are handing out player contracts to recruits. I can't even describe what's going on in the portal.. players are leveraging their current school with offers from other schools.

rumors with my horns is that SC went at Worthy first, but the BMDs shut it down quickly and Worthy remains a longhorn. Then we have rumors of Oregon offering Barron 200k to transfer there. He submitted the application but they are still talking now

Just be happy UM's administration is archaic or Worthy would be at UM. So unbelievably frustrating to see the school not admit kids, only to watch them go to other schools with really good academics.

The basketball program just lost out on one of the top transfers from Texas Tech because UM wouldn't admit him. He signed with Illinois now.

Football program can't even use the transfer portal unless the kid has graduated, as they will only accept so many credits from other schools to be used toward a UM degree. That is why we essentially only sign Grad Transfers. We lose out on so much talent. If they don't get rid of the stick up their ass -- UM is going to get left behind in today's college football.

scary part..or frustrating part is that with the power of a UM, they could really be ramping up collectives for all of their athletes to make some good money every year that they are on scholarship.. then they would just need the die hard football ones to be told by the staff to go grab with your resources.

Yeah, saw that. Terrible.

Their vehicle spun out and ended up sitting across the inside lane on the highway before a semi smashed into them broadside. I can only imagine the horror. One time many years ago a friend of mine and I were in his Corvette and it hydroplaned on I-40 as we were driving through Oklahoma City. Those things were famous for that problem. There we were spinning in circles on I-40 and then we were just sliding down the highway backwards when we both saw a big ass semi coming straight for us. My friend had the presence of mind to say "fuck it" and did the best he could to slide the car backwards into the guardrail. We hit that guardrail still going maybe 40 mph and tore the living hell out of that fiberglass POS but at least we were off the highway when that semi went sailing past us. We both could have been killed but for some reason we survived what could have been a horrible death because we could see it coming right before our eyes. Ya just never know in this world.

Mother Nature doesn't take kindly to frail humans chasing after her...

OU fans still crying

Uhh....yeah, fuck Lincoln Riley!

I actually blame the system more than anything here. I'm not anti-NIL, but when you combine an un-capped system with open transfers and a NCAA who doesn't do anything about tampering what did you expect would happen? I don't blame Addison for chasing the bag, hell I don't even know if I blame Riley since he's trying to make his team better and knows he can get away with it. But changes do need to be made before it kills interest for all but a handful of schools if their fans are constantly worried about losing their best players.

Couple of things...there doesn't appear to be any evidence of Riley contacting Addison before he hit the portal. Caleb Williams and Addison are friends and it looks like it was Williams who contacted him. Player to player recruiting isn't a violation.

Now, ask me if I think Riley knew and/or endorsed Williams contacting him...lol

Having said that, I agree (and Riley has commented himself) that something needs to be done because it's basically the wild, wild west right now.

Honestly, I'm really interested to see what happens at USC these next couple of seasons. One of the best storylines in 2022.
