Lincoln Riley really robbing everybody

I don't honestly know how good we'll be on defense this year. But I will say that with the talent they have brought in, it would be hard not to improve over last year. It looks like depth will be an issue for the defense though. Especially in the front 7.

I'm thinking that Riley will have the Offense cranked up.
At Oklahoma, the defense didn't get a 50/50 split with Scholarships, so they were automatically put at a disadvantage, when it came to depth.

I think the recruiting landscape is different out there, and with everything else, it's going to work out fine.
Barry Switzer used to say that the USC Coach drives by more talent on his way to work, then there is in the entire State of Oklahoma.
That is absolute truth.

Even in your 'down years', I still see talent all over the field.
Again, USC will be fine.

All I know, is that it was time for him to go.
And he did.
It worked out good for everyone I think.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking too.

The offense should start off strong, if for no other reason than Williams knows Riley, knows the offense and even has one of his wide receivers from last year.

I was a little concerned about how they would recruit for the defense because coaches tend to recruit what they know and Riley knows offense. I have been pleasantly surprised at how they have done recruiting for defense and they just got an edge rusher who's supposed to be pretty good.

The defensive backfield looks fairly stacked. Looks like the front 7 will be talented but thin.

I think we'll be fine as well...but will feel a lot better if/when I see it play out that way on the field.

OU should be just fine as well. Venables being a defensive coach should really help the defense. Hopefully, the OC is good and you guys get a better balance between the 2.

This is my thinking.
It needed to happen.

I saw what it looked like the other way. He had done everything he could at Oklahoma; time to move on.

man he better change philosophies in recruiting or he's going to be taking hits on the trail the way Dabo has been

Guy Lewis used to say if he could just convince the best talent in Houston to stay at home Cougar High could win the natty pretty often.

The problem is the Houston talent knows how bad the city of Houston sucks and wants to get out.

they are getting better players to stay there, but they were at a disadvantage being in a G5 conference. But i agree, Houston is no where near a college town, it's a pro town

*pro town to a team that couldn't beat some college teams

Sad Kristen Bell GIF

Riley’s Oklahoma teams were known for being soft and USC has had a soft culture ever since Carroll left. Riley ain’t the guy to change the culture and a soft culture ain’t gonna win against the big boys
So it should be fine to win the pac?

damn... was hoping he would wind up in Austin :(

Almost did from what I heard. I also heard that the visit with Texas went really well.

I think it basically came down to him visiting USC last, so they knew what they had to beat, so to speak.
