I knew that the 23 class would eventually have decommits because it's as guaranteed as anything when discussing ou recruiting, but I never envisioned this. Sucks for them because this '22 class was really solid, and it can go from a top 10 to a transition class within a span of hours.. crazy, never seen anything like this.

Well, ''was'' is a past tense for ''is''. Meaning something already happened as opposed to currently happening.

''Told'' is past tense for ''tell''. Meaning that information that needed to be passed on has been passed as opposed to ''telling'' which would mean the info is currently being passed, or ''tell'' which would mean the info still needs to be passed on at some future point.

So, ''was told'' means that the necessary info has been provided.


''Confirmed'' generally means that something is known to be true and/or correct. ''That'' can mean many things, but in this case appears to be referring to the actions of one individual.

So, in this instance the person was stating that information had been passed to him (was told) and he has checked or vetted the info and knows it to be true and correct (confirmed).
