You mean like what happened to USC?

Punishing people who weren't there and had nothing to do with the violations is how virtually every one of these cases has been handled because the violations are almost never discovered until after everyone involved has already left.

It's always been stupid and unfair, especially since the only thing that they have to punish those who committed violations is vacating wins, which is about as meaningless as a punishment gets. But it's also all they've ever had as a "hammer".

Exactly. I've never agreed to those things. Loss of schollys for the University seems to be the only thing that makes sense.

How do you "vacate" a win?!?!? Sounds pretty stupid.....erasing history, yeah that'll help!

Yeah, forfeiting wins would be less stupid, but only because changing the result because a team "cheated" is slightly less stupid than pretending the game didn't happen. Especially since the opponents losses still count on their record.

Agree on loss of schollys, but even then, it still punishes people who had nothing to do with it. But, as you point out, at least it makes some kind of sense and there doesn't seem to be a better option.
