It looks like the MAC will join in on the disassembly of C-USA...

Apparently Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State will likely move to the MAC per the following article:

MAC likely to add 2 Conference USA schools to expand to 14 teams, per report

That would leave C-USA with only three remaining members... however, it looks like C-USA will be trying to stay alive by bringing in four new members: the independents Liberty & New Mexico State, and two FCS schools, Sam Houston State & Jacksonville State:

Conference realignment: Conference USA reportedly set to add 2 FBS independents, 2 FCS programs as all-sports members - Saturday Down South

But seven C-USA members won't be enough... they probably should gauge Delaware's possible interest, and if the Blue Hens are interested, then also bring in UMass to complement Delaware... and once that happens, try to complete a northeast triumvirate by attempting to get Army...

C-USA might also want to consider the Tennessee market (Chattanooga) and the Kentucky market (Eastern Kentucky) and the Atlanta market (Kennesaw State) and the Illinois market (Southern Illinois)... but that's IF those schools meet the FBS qualifications. Remember that several years ago, Eastern Kentucky desired to join the Sun Belt, but Coastal Carolina was chosen, so EKU probably is still ready to make the jump to the FBS.

Conference USA is a train wreck.

It's Friday 4:00pm eastern and nothing official yet on the MAC adding WKU and MTSU... I've seen no news on this matter for the past couple days.

Since Middle Tennessee State has decided to remain in Conference USA with the recent announcement of four new C-USA members, the MAC is shutting down expansion consideration, which means Western Kentucky will also be remaining in C-USA.

MAC opts against expansion after Middle Tennessee elects to remain with Conference USA

So...
the five remaining C-USA members plus the four new C-USA members totals nine.... it sure looks like C-USA should be trying for a 10th member.

9 keeps them above minimum. they are already adding 2 FCS programs. a third FCS likely doesnt add value. Umass and Uconn dont add value. Army prob adds a little but not much and those 3 programs are long distance anyway.
