A few years back, I did an "On This Day in CFB" for one season and it actually turned out pretty good, and I want to do it all again. I lost the blog and all the info I had got lost. I actually got much of my information from the thread. So, instead of interesting facts, I want moments that happened on dates. If not sure what the date was, still mention it and I will try to find it. Mainly looking for days from late August to Thanksgiving.

So, brag and troll on this thread all you want. Tell me big upsets, games of the century, college football's firsts, great comebacks/flops, controversial games, and so on.

1980
Oklahoma @ Colorado

Oklahoma 82
Colorado 42

Broke 51 NCAA and Big 8 records.

Most points scored by 2 teams @ 124
Most Touchdowns scored by 2 teams @ 18

Oklahoma had 875 Total Yards in the game with 758 being Rushing Yards

And before I forget, Fuck Colorado

Check out the fumble recovery at the 6:15 mark

August 22nd, 2002:

The earliest start to the college football season in college football history. Colorado State beat Virginia 35-29.

August 23rd, 2002:

Kicker Mike Allen makes a 34-yard FG to prevent #25 Wisconsin from being upset against unranked Fresno State. Out of all the games played on this date in college football history, this was the best game.

9-1-2017 Johnathan Taylor plays 1st game at Wisconsin 9 carries 87 yards.

Pitt’s fluke win over WVU in 2007 is the watershed moment in modern cfb history.

Maybe not a well known one but this was huge for my guys at the time. Those 11 years were worse than normal.

"On Oct. 26, 1985, the then-No. 7 ranked Cougars — the defending national champions — fell to lowly, previously winless UTEP, 23-16, in El Paso. Just how stunning was UTEP's victory? BYU was a 35-point favorite. Consider the Miners had won only 14 games over the previous 11 seasons while the Cougars had won 13 games in 1984 alone. BYU had also won 30 of its previous 31 games, including 25 conference contests in a row over a span covering four years. And just five years earlier, the Cougars had smashed UTEP, 83-7."

Above was our high point. Here's the low point. I was at this game. We didn't even get close to tackling that sucker.

November 18, 2000
"TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson broke the NCAA Division I-A rushing record, gaining 406 yards and scoring six touchdowns Saturday in a 52-24 victory over Texas-El Paso."

Ah yes, I remember it well

The biggest moment in CFB history is a Walk Off 41yd bomb in overtime to win a National Title. Their is no play/moment bigger than that. Because of “Alabama Fatigue” it doesn’t and won’t get near the credit it should

If called correctly it would have been false start on Alabama. It cost y’all 10 yards
Nah, it was refs catering to Bama. They tried it again this year with the bullshit intentional grounding when Pickens broke off his route, a bullshit fumble call and an even more bullshit roughing the passer call, but a taller QB than Bryce Young just whipped out his gigantic pecker and slapped Saban in the face with it anyways.

Or the 2 guys that the “Greatest Defense of All time” couldn’t fucking stop and ate their ass up in the SEC Championship game got hurt. You can have the 2017 title we will just take the 2021 one.

All 3 4th quarter TDs scored by UGA were by freshmen, including a 3 star true freshman receiver. Next man up. If your entire offense is completely reliant on two players, best for those players to not be brittle bitches. Pretty selfish of them to hurt themselves in crunch time knowing they were the only receivers on the entire roster.
