Malzahn Got A Raise & Extension at UCF

Gus Malzahn’s UCF contract is reportedly being extended.

According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Malzahn’s deal will now run through the 2027 season. He will make $5.5 million per year for the last 2 seasons of his contract. Per Thamel, UCF wanted to raise Malzahn’s salary to the level of his Big 12 peers.


Did they not watch the Baylor game? He just blew the biggest lead in CFB history.

Why give him an extension and a raise? No one was going to hire him away from UCF. Malzahn has made more millions off stupid ADs than any person in history and that is a massive mark to hit.
 
whoa.. blow a 28pt lead and lose at home.. to a team that got obliterated at home the week prior...

The current UCF AD is Malzahn’s old AD/fuck-buddy from Arky St.

But my interest in the sport was already dying anyway, so, whatever.

Didn't even realize I was setting you up there. I just know that Jay Jacobs, Auburn's former AD was a complete moron and could have let Arkansas take Malzahn for free and doubled down on stupid.

I said at the time:
- Let Arkansas have him
- Give it to Kevin Steele for 3mm a year
_ Give Steele 1mm a year each for OC and DC
- Give out another 1mm (total spread out) as staying bonuses to the coaches that elect to stay at Auburn

I think Steele would have gone out and gotten an innovative OC, and hire an up-and-comer for DC who was a fantastic recruiter, Steele would still be the architect of the defense and Auburn would have been better off. Instead, we have spent about 30mm buying people out of contracts.

It's ridiculous.

Yeah, that one hurts bad because it was kind of like the perfect fit that couldn't miss and man did it miss.
