Volbound has a very interesting way of viewing things. For some reason he thinks the SEC should buy out Texas and OU so they can start SEC play immediately because it’s a bad look. He doesn’t factor in that’s real money that comes out of everyone else’s pocket and ain’t no one going to be ok with that.

If you are discussing SEC expansion he typically ignores the economics of it and argues for teams like Oklahoma State and West Virginia which will never happen.

Now he wants us to decline bowls because it’s embarrassing.

Free country and we need to let him be him but it’s tough sometimes.

FWIW, the bowls are incredibly profitable. ESPN owns 17 of them and televises all but a few. It's their most profitable time period in the year. They aren't going anywhere.

Bowl games no longer matter. It's what you do OOC that sets up the perception of the league. The league did pretty good OOC.

UGA beat Oregon
UF beat Utah
Arkansas beat Cincy
Ole Miss beat Troy
South Carolina beat Clemson
UK beat UL
Tennessee beat Pitt
Bama beat Texas

My guess is no other league comes all that close to that many good wins.

Bowl games suddenly matter to the media again when the SEC is doing well. They really don’t matter when they aren’t though.

Arkansas also lost to Liberty.

Texas A&M lost to app state

Florida was a few botched snaps away from losing to a 1 win South Florida team

There’s also some bad there in their OOC

They've typically done well in bowl games, but I don't recall the media making a big deal out of it. Sure with them having two title games with SEC teams participating in them, is noteworthy, but I will say, I think they'll make a big deal out of it if it happens with the B1G this year.

And yeah, there was some bad in there too. Every conference took on bad losses. I just don't think another conference had that many quality wins either.

I just think it’s funny that teams that most knew were completely overrated, who’s lofty over rankings (Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss) were used to boost other SEC teams at some point ended up proving to be completely overrated as thought.

Yet the “well they were ranked at the time!” Logic is still used like crazy when it comes to SEC teams.

I don't know man.....14 teams playing 56 OOC games and they come up with 3 great wins???

Yeah, I get that, but what do want voters to do when Florida beats a top 10 team to start the year, and one that ended up winning the P12? Or when Arkansas beats a Cincy team that was borderline top 25 OOC, then follows that up beating an okay BYU team OOC? Same with Ole Miss beating Troy. Yeah, these SEC teams aren't great, but have these other good to average teams beat them and they won't get ranked so high.

BYU finished with 5 losses. I have a work associate who still swears Arkansas is a “good team” because they beat BYU lol. He’s a LSU honk. He also claims Liberty only tanked into the ground after beating Arkansas because “it took all they had to beat Arkansas” lmao.

Yeah, BYU isn't great, I'd consider them slightly above average. But if Arkansas doesn't beat them and Cincy, they are a 4 win team. Arkansas is probably a top-35 team.
