Mariah Carey throws shade at NFL

"the NFL's commitment to end systemic racism following its treatment of activist Colin Kaepernick in the past."

Can't believe you idiots are still supporting this shit.

The NFL is a business. They're in the business of making money. Kap is a clown and Carey is looking for relevancy. Populist opinion rules the day. To be on the wrong side is damaging. The NFL will follow along whatever is expedient. Brady! You're fucked!

No you fucking idiot. Laws made, specifically to target a certain race, is by definition, systematic racism. Youre fucking dumb
No you moron. It was a law. It isn’t systemic racism if it law. But let’s go off of your ignorant statement. We had the Civil Rights Act that made Jim Crow irrelevant to the myths of systematic racism or white privilege.

Are you trolling, or this stupid?

Hey, Kaepernick could've been playing today. Plenty of players who caught flak for kneeling, even making stupid comments about cops, are still playing today. But Kaepernick tried to merge his supposed activism with needing a lucrative starting contract. When he didn't get it, he and his supporters cried foul. So now, we're to expect that NFL team owners don't award contract based on past performance or talent, but on the amount of social justice activism? LOL.
No no no no no no no and wrong.

Colin Kaepernick is not playing because Colin Kaepernick doesn't actually want to play.

Just look at the money Nike gave him because he wasn't playing. Even the NFL gave him money not to play.

Kaepernick is making NFL money without taking NFL physical punishment.

It's more profitable to Kaepernick to be a victim than it is to be an NFL quarterback.

Hashtag truth.

It is systemic because it was a law. It was the root of racism and encouraged. I don't believe in white privilege, but you're not helping the cause.

My rebuttal was to numbnuts who brought up Jim Crow. It has been addressed and unanimously condemned. Law IMO isn’t systematic. “Systematic” is when a black and white dude get detained for the same drugs and whitey walks away and black dude gets to be jailhouse bitch. You can overcome “systematic” overcome anything but you cannot overcome law.

I agree with a lot of your points, except I want to clarify:

This is Colin Kaepernick's Plan C.

Plan A was to be a professional football player and be adored and make shitloads of money. This is what he did from 2011 - 2015, when he rose impressively through the ranks and played well to take the team to a Super Bowl and then a subsequent NFC championship game.

Plan B went into effect in 2016, when it was clear that he had lost a step, wasn't playing well and due to his sizeable contract, was going to be cut. Seeing his star fade, he started kneeling, calling cops racist and wearing "piggy" socks. Media attention was immediate, and then he opted out of his contract, expecting someone to take a chance on him and welcome his newfound social justice persona. He fired his agent and started letting his girlfriend muddy the waters with smack talk. The strategy didn't work, and no team signed him.

Plan C developed soon after, when Kaepernick decided that his perpetual unsigned status was due to a conspiracy across NFL ownership not wanting to hire him because of the activism. He would meet with teams for tryouts and was even offered roles for low pay and/or backup status. Being a poor public speaker, he was all too glad to let Twitter make the insinuations that it was due to racism. The NFL did what it could, even giving Kaepernick an unprecedented showcase for team scouts in 2019. Meanwhile, Kaepernick made money by making appearances, penning his memoir and yes, signing a contract with Nike, so that the company could pretend it was all "woke" and not at all a huge beneficiary of sweatshop labor in third world countries.

It has been a situation that developed over a few years, and was probably not very well thought out by Kaepernick. The guy remains unsigned not because no one offered him a contract (he was), but because it's pretty hard to envision someone as a victim just because no one wants to pay him $20 million a year.
