So we not discussing this er......?

B1G and SEC need to band together and decide what we want to do. The other conferences will do as told.

i was thinking with unstable leadership would now be a time for the P5 to make a move

Does the NCAA really matter anymore for football? They’ve been pretty well neutered and I hope they get less and less power
Neutered themselves by playing favorites and choking the golden goose. Could have organized a system for players to be paid years ago and been in front of NIL.

That went out the window with that gay ass alliance.

SEC will lead, others will follow
Nah, because of the alliance, the only thing the SEC has is itself. Depart from the rest and only play with yourself like little 13 year olds discovering masturbation or stfu and fall in line.

All that and the SEC will continue to win pretty well every natty

Say what you will about the NCAA or SEC, but if I hear you badmouthing masturbation ever again, I will doxx you and come to your house to give you a stern talking to.

Then you better pray for the NCAA to stay around. If the P5 bands together, changes will happen. Can't corner the market and not expect them to snap back when given the opportunity.

Agreed, but it isn't too late. They have to grab the bull by the balls and come up with a way. The Alston case laid out some framework of where this is going, and they need to move it on it quickly. Whether we like it or not, there will have to be some type of agreement to pay the players ... how they do that with Title IX, who knows, but it has to happen.

I saw a tweet by Stewart Mandell of The Athletic today and I went back and reviewed Alston again. I had listened to the oral argument a year ago. There is no way that NIL is going to be sufficient to satisfy what the players will want, and likely deserve.

Man, I would not want that job.

Nah, SEC will just continue to dominate and laugh at all members of that gay ass alliance. “Can’t beat em, so let’s tuck tail and run”

The SEC is driving this thing. The B1G can co-drive if they want to, but we couldn't give two shits about the ACC or the PAC. in 5 years, we will be making 120% more per team than them. In an environment where we are paying players, we will simply outspend those conferences. Not saying I like that, but the Alliance teams not called the B1G just don't have a lot or leverage.

Think through this scenario ... the Alliance plays hard ball and says that only 2 teams per conference, and the Rose Bowl gets some super duper preferred treatment. The SEC says, nah, if you want limits, we are out. They then bring in the B12 and ND and say we are going to have our own CFP. We will be done by the second week of January. If you want to send your champion to play us, we are here and waiting. I agree that ND might go either way, but think ultimately they would go where the best football is.

We have a CFP with Bama, UGA, LSU, OU, Texas, ATM, UF, UTjr, ND and a B12 team or two.

Meanwhile you have a CFP with tOSU, UM, PSU, USC, Oregon, Clemson, FSU and Miami.

Which one makes the most money? Which top players want to play in which CFP?

When I started this post, I thought it would be obvious it would be the SEC and their gang. But, the other group doesn't look too bad. A lot would depend on where all the good players end up going, and I think the SEC would continue to get the most best players.

I think that the reason I go with the SEC is that the B1G is going to take one look at this and say WTF, why are we pulling all these other conferences along? Sure we have the B12, but the B1G will be supporting the ACC and the PAC. The SEC will have ESPN and even though I support multiple networks, ESPN is still the top dog.

tOSU will be invited to the new SEC. #checkmate everyone else

They only matter in running playoffs. Their enforcement capability went down the toilet long ago.

ND is part of the alliance

Citation for that? I am confident they aren't. They were in the group that came up with the expanded CFP, and were disappointed that it didn't go through.

From the article below:

The SEC’s destabilizing acquisition of Texas and Oklahoma played a role in halting progress toward a 12-team College Football Playoff, a concept Swarbrick helped bring to the table last June. He, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson and Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby formed the subcommittee that came up with the plan.

After initially being hailed as a welcome expansion in many circles, the Big Ten, ACC and Pac-12 eventually expressed concerns and dug in as unified opposition. That led to a series of unproductive CFP meetings that Swarbrick described as, “the single oddest thing I’ve ever been through.”

Swarbrick specifically pushed back at the notion that Sankey was trying to orchestrate playoff expansion as a means of drawing Texas and Oklahoma into his league. “It’s complete bullshit,” he said
. “Greg’s really smart, but nobody’s that Machiavellian. I had my own views, Thompson did, Bowlsby did. We weren’t being manipulated by Greg. [The playoff] will wind up at 12.
