Marshall pulls out of bowl game. Can’t field a team

Knew the QB room was emptied but didn’t realize THAT many guys had hit the he home gateway..

The cowering herd just didn't want Army to embarrass them.

Marshall has notified officials that it is opting out of the Independence Bowl vs. Army, sources tell @YahooSports.

Absent of 6-6 teams, officials are working to determine a replacement thru a ranking of NCAA APR scores of 5-7 teams. Marshall has lost 25+ players in the portal.

This is their chance, put it to a fan vote on who they wanna see play Army.

lol

College football really is a just a fuckin' joke now.

Best I can figure out is conference tie-ins outweighed APR.

"College football’s 11th-oldest bowl game will begin a new chapter in 2020, as the Independence Bowl’s matchups will feature a rotation of the Pac-12 Conference, American Athletic Conference (AAC) and Conference USA (C-USA), as well as nationally respected independent programs Army West Point (Army)"

Army was the 2024 'feature' pick and the Independence Bowl arbitrarily chose Sun Belt's Marshall as the opponent.

Marshall backing out defaulted to Conference USA's Louisiana Tech.
Houston was AAC in 2022 and was the 'feature' pick.
Cal Bears were PAC in 2023 and were the 'feature' pick.

Therefore Marshall backing out defaulted to a C-USA team.

Getting a Louisiana team to attend a game in Shreveport, Louisiana probably didn't hurt matters.

Is it true the whole Marshall team are transferring to Southern Miss. even though they finished higher in the Conference rankings than So. Miss.?

New movie coming out soon,
“ We Were Marshall!”

The portal should only start after the bowl season. Starting the portal now also fucks with the revenue stream from the bowl games.
Amen, it’s the dumbest thing ever having the portal this time of year when you have bowl games and playoffs going on. The idiots in charge didn’t think it through again.

That random non-football professional people on an obscure sports forum can instantly figure this out while the professionals cannot is extremely disconcerting.

It really is amazing how the sport has grown and expanded with some of the idiotic/out of touch “leadership” that it’s had and their lack of efficiency in making changes for the better in a timely fashion.
