Matt Ryan to the Colts

But seriously, how many GMs get to hire three HC’s for the same team and keep their job?

Too many great points made by @Illustrious Potentate in this thread. I agree with him on just about everything. This year is a throw away but next year they will have plenty of cap space and a high draft pick.

i say Jamies Winston is your guy for this year

They need to do a complete rebuild. Roll with a scrub QB for a year, get a top pick next year and trade away any decent pieces they do have to stockpile picks. They have to eat 40 million of dead cap space on Ryan’s contract too
ouch!

For a third rounder. Falcons can finally properly tank now. Think they may have to run the triple option next season though. No QB and no receivers

Corderelle Patterson for QB….because….why not.

Tell me again how Thomas Dimitroff wasn’t sent packing along with either Mike Smith or Dan Quinn?

Sooo... Baker to ATL then?
Imagine you are some sort of brilliant GM tactician, à la Kevin Costner in that awful movie where he saves the Browns. But the QBs you have to work with are guys like Mayfield, Wentz, Ryan and Garoppolo. If you land any of these guys, at the end of the day, do you go home happy?

Holy shit that dead cap hit. That’s roughly 1/5 or so of all cap this year.

And I thought the Eagles were going to hold that record (largest dead cap hit) for longer than one year

Falcons will have the most dead money in NFL history for 2022, but they will be like 100 million under the cap in 2023

That’s an even better one year turn around than the Eagles did. I think they had something like $25-$30M when they started out this year.

Just muddle through another crap year and line up those draft picks and FA signings next year.
