Mazi Smith making headlines for all the wrong reasons

At very least it looks bad then the UM grad prosecutor takes his time on this so the player can play freely without any question throughout the regular season.

Sit him against Indiana and the speculation doesn't even come up.
Why should he have to sit out? Because he is black? I knew OSU fans were racist. :hide:

I will just have you know -- the former UM football player who is now our Athletic Director took this matter very seriously. He went right to the former UM football player who is now our Head Coach and explained the situation. Together, the two former UM football players decided the current Michigan football player was not a threat to the school or community.

Hell -- even after the charges were filed -- the guy still has no limitations and can continue to play. So in all seriousness, while the charge is serious -- according to the lawyer they had on sports talk today, the fact he wasn't arrested and they just now filed the charges -- it is most likely he either, had a gun on his person and it was covered up (guy said, even if you have it on the outside and your shirt or coat covers it up) or he had an expired concealed license. In Michigan, both are felonies, where you aren't arrested.

We shall see once the details come out. My guess is they aren't bad. If they are -- Michigan looks terrible, but personally speaking, I'm happy because Michigan needs to start cutting corners and playing dirty if they want to keep up with the joneses.

Michigan fans are trying to say its an expired CCW even though i'm reading you can't get a CCW in Michigan until you're 21? and he's only been 21 for like 5 months.
June 3 Superbad GIF

Sure. Ok.
He's in the process for a CPL, thought he could sneak it early, got caught and this is dumb. There's no way he actually gets convicted of a serious crime here.
Not with a prosecutor that enjoys good seats to the games.

It's not expired. See above. He just had his arraignment. His lawyer says he was in the process of getting his CPL (now has it) when he was pulled over with the gun in his car. So basically he started carrying his gun in his car like weeks before he was allowed to legally. When he was pulled over he let the officer know he had a gun in the car and that he was in the process of getting his CPL (which he has now and is why he wasn't arrested on scene). This is such a non story in reality, but the way it came out by the media first (rather than head on by the AD) is dumb.

So he KNEW he didnt actually have it yet but was still just carrying all willy nilly like he did. Sounds like a moron to me. And still against the law.

Sure. It was against the law.

Suspending him, in reality, adds absolutely no value to his lesson here.

The AD is also a moron for not sending out a PR message in October about the situation.

Yes it does. "Dont be stupid and think you are above the law, now sit a game" adds plenty

Sit him for the first half against Purdue.

Then let him enjoy his street cred.

More importantly. God damn it.

I really preferred November Michigan Football to December Michigan Football.
Don't get me wrong -- I like Donovan Edwards, but he is more of a break off big run type of back. Corum was the guy who'd get you yards every carry and always broke tackles and fell forward. Edwards is not that guy.

We are going to have to pass way too much in the CFP.

Corum I think, at least it seems like, will probably be ready for the CFP. They'd be stupid to even try to play him against Purdue this week
