IDK I'd imagine a good chunk of their student body lives permanently or semi-permanently in the Lansing area; and possible out west in the Grand Rapids area. If I were a season ticket holder I'd be pissed.
EVERYONE in Metro Detroit goes to MSU. It isn't that it is their first option, but it is next to impossible to get into Michigan, so MSU is the next best option. So they won't have any shortage of fans in the area looking to go to a game and it will most likely be cheaping to go to the game at Ford Field than it would be at MSU.

I tend to anecdotally think they go mostly to eastern and Wayne state. Some to central. Every msu fan I know was born north somewhere between Brighton and Lansing.
They go to Eastern if they are going to be a teacher. Wayne State if they want to commute. If you want to go away to a school -- Michigan State is the 1st option, followed by Western and Central. 1/3 of my graduating class went to Michigan State.
