Minnie Minoso

I had always assumed he had been in for a long time, was surprised when I heard it over the weekend.

Jim Kaat and Tony Oliva takes care of a couple more overlooked players, too.

Still no Dick Allen..
this is the issue w/ letting Harold Baines into the hall. Baines makes Dick Allen look like a first ballot HOFer

Dick Allen's advanced offense statistics are really good. .912 OPS, 156 OPS+, 155 WRC+. Those are HOF numbers.

The main knocks against Allen are his longevity (he was only a good-great player for a ten year period). As a result, he has less than 1,900 hits and a bWAR that is less than 60.

Dick Allen not being in the hall didn't bother me until they let Baines in. Now, they have to let Allen in. I think the next veteran committee vote will take place in five years.

If Kiner's a HOFer (and Kiner had a 149 OPS+ in over 1000 fewer plate appearances), then Allen should be in.

Baines had a 121 OPS+, tied for 359th all-time with the likes of Arenado, Jason Bay, Mike Greenwell, Chili Davis and Josh Willingham.

Dick Allen better than both but still a single vote short.

I'm not saying it's fair but "7 straight seasons leading the league in HRs, tied with Babe Ruth!" used to be the kind of thing that would really make a voter swoon. It still does I guess, just not as much.
